  1. Sad. I wouldn't be surprised if she's had it for a couple years by this point. I remember the last couple of years of her show were hard to watch - talking slowly, spacing out every few seconds sometimes.
One of the articles I read attributed her dementia to alcohol use. She also has a well documented history of drug abuse. This one's going to be hard for me to process - I watched her show every day! Truly a one of a kind entertainer.

  2. On the topic of aging House Democrats, Chicago-area Rep. Danny Davis, who is 82 years old and seeking a fifteenth term in Congress, had AI-generated portraits of him posted on his campaign website as his media person was unable to get Davis "well-groomed enough" for a real photoshoot.

Lots of rumors about his health and wellbeing. The Congressional Black Caucus generally discourages its members from retiring in order to retain seniority in Congress. However, he's facing a steep challenge in the Democratic primary this year. Have to wonder if he'll pull a John Conyers if he loses. A lot of these longtime Reps and Senators die right after leaving office.

  3. U.S. Representative Al Green (D-Texas), 76 underwent emergency abdominal surgery. However, Green was well enough to cast the deciding vote against impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Green arrived on the House floor without shoes and in hospital garb.

Second thing I noticed now that I have read the statement is that Is devoid of any reassuring information such as "the cancer hs highly treatable " "The Kings prognosis is excellent" "the cancer is localised and at a very early stage" and such like.If the announcement was meant to dull speculation it would be a 100% own goal like throwing petrol on a fire and I don't think the King and those around him believe it would do anything other than create a tsunami of speculative headlines and cause people to question his mortality.

I also think the fact he has been advised not to partake in any face to face events strongly suggests he has started cheom and therefore is likely to have a compromised immune system going forward.

I picked up on this as well. That and the state department statement. I doubt it's terminal pancan or anything, but I would expect more optimistic language if there was a positive prognosis.

Then again, he has access to the best healthcare.

She just presented an award at the Grammys.  I thought she looked and sounded okay.

No cane or wheelchair. I wouldn't have suspected she was sick if I didn't already know.

I actually think he looks rather good, albeit on the special scale by which Senator McConnell should be judged.

Still appears to be noticeably thinner than he was. Maybe he's on ozempic :P

I hate to be stating the obvious but that's not very good... Wonder if him filing re-election paperwork is just a formality.

It is usually just for campaign finance purposes. I recall in 2019/2020, Dianne Feinstein filed for re-election in 2024 even though she never intended to run — her staff was even forced to clarify that filing ≠ an official announcement.

Just curious.. does anyone have any personal rules for themselves when picking people for their pools?  One of the main rules I have for myself is I have to on some kind of level know who they are that are on my lists. There are plenty of names on peoples lists and for that matter even the main DeathList itself that I have no clue who they are.. It wouldn't matter if they were within days of death, and 90% of people would have them in their pools.  If I don't know them they would not be put in my pools. Also wont put people on that are in situations of what I feel are tragedy situations.  Like Eugenia Cooney in her eating disorder.

If I didn't know them outside of these forums, I don't include them. I'm American so a lot of the European football/racing/entertainment names aren't in consideration for me.
The only person on my list that I didn't know beforehand was Eva Marie Saint, but she's a pretty accomplished actress that I'm surprised I didn't know of.

She is not dead, but Olympic Medalist Mary Lu Retton had a major health scare where she had a rare pneumonia that almost cost her her life. She was on the Today Show talking about it.  She is still on oxygen.  Not saying she is going to die.  By God's Grace I pray she pulls through and makes a complete recovery.  Just thought it was interesting news on an Olympic athlete, and I was not sure this was the place to post or not.  If there was a different thread I should have put it my apologies.

Here's a link to the video. She looks decent for somebody who was almost dead a few months ago.

I think 2024 will be slower than 2023. Hard to ballpark a number without the official list being out, but with more celebrities hiding terminal diagnoses, it doesn't seem like there's very many high profile "certs" this year - or at least that's how I felt when drafting my shadow list.

Seems like I've been proven wrong already
