William Steinkraus, American equestrian who won Gold at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, as well as Bronze at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, Silver at the 1960 Rome Olympics and Silver at the 1972 Munich Olympics, has died aged 92.

Jacques Simon, who played for France at the 1966 FIFA World Cup, has died aged 76. He played in the England v. France game, which England won 2-0, and was subject to a nasty tackle by Nobby Stiles - hence his name has appeared in a couple of UK newspaper reports, notably The Guardian, Financial Times and The Independent. Will he return to get his revenge by scything Nobby?

Marianne Means, a US political columnist and White House correspondent who was the first female reporter to be assigned full time coverage of the White House, has died aged 83. She was a pioneer for women in journalism and covered the assassination of President John F. Kennedy - as well as apparently being one of his lovers.

Ivan Chermayeff, co-founder of Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv graphic design company, has died aged 85. The company designed iconic logos for brands such as NBC, PBS, Armani Exchange, Barneys New York and National Geographic.
