President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has extended his stay in Great Britain for further tests and treatments of an unknown illness. He often travels to the UK for medical check-ups and treatments, however recently he has been the victim of death hoaxes, which has led to the Nigerian Government officially denying his death. -

Gervase de Peyer, principal clarinet of the London Symphony Orchestra (1956-1973), and conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra and English Chamber Orchestra, has died aged 90. -
Mark Spitz, an American music journalist, author and playwright, has died aged 47. He contributed to Spin, The New York Times, New York Post and Vanity Fair, amongst others.

I found this curious too, because at first I thought he was just referring to Gerald Kaufman. But then when I checked, Gerald Kaufman didn't actually vote - which in itself I think means he's really near the end as MPs have been taken out of hospital and on life support machines to vote when it's so important. In which case it seems there are some new deathly figures haunting the Labour benches and I don't just mean the ghost of Lenin whispering in Corbyn's ear. The practice of wheeling MPs in on life-support machines ended decades ago, and the parliamentary convention of having someone on the opposing side abstaining with you (so the vote reflected the vote if everybody attended) was brought in. Correct - however pairing only applies to 1 or 2 line whips. This was a 3 line whip and therefore didn't apply.

Stuart Pollock, the last surviving Irish cricketer to play before WWII, has died aged 96. After retiring from playing, he went on to be President of the Irish Cricket Union. -
Gordon Aikman, motor neurone disease campaigner and former director of communications for the Better Together campaign has died aged 31. A hit in some of the pools I think.

John Hilton, NFL Tight End for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1965-1969), Green Bay Packers (1970), Minnesota Vikings (1971) and Detroit Lions (1972-1973), has died aged 74. -
