As of 16th March 2020: Where I work we’ve had to cancel one echo clinic (usually two are running) because one member of staff is in self quarantine. According to the main hospital they cannot get any temp staff last minute for Cardiology this week Patients keep calling up asking if they should go in. I say yes unless they are feeling like they have the virus One patient came in wearing gloves to protect themselves Nobody can get hold of head of Cardiology to ask for advice - not that anybody usually gets a response from him at the best of times This may change tomorrow since the government has asked over 70's to not go out.

The Irish can't drink alcohol or watch football on TV. Now would be a good time to do a study on sport vs domestic violence and whether alcohol affects a person more or less.

80% of staff I work with are Filipino or Indian as the trust I work for get medical staff from there. Any other white staff are eastern european or English but older. They find it hard to get British nurses because grants for training have been removed in recent years. Away from that, so I know I have some kind of job security and can get advice, I registerd with UNISON today who is the union for people working in healthcare.

Going into work tomorrow will be interesting if they are not going to allow over 70's out for non urgent appointments. Part of my job is book appointments for people to have their echocardiograms. About 60% of the patients are over 70 I reckon. I've even booked appointments for 100 year olds.

Knowing Trump and his enablers, someone probably convinced him that it would make him win the election or something.

Just got word from my friend that her aunt and uncle are currently trapped in Spain because the country is in lockdown.

Bright side - no more Twitter trends about football for a few weeks Down side - 80% of Twitter trends are about Coronavirus

With the amount of sporting events being cancelled/rescheduled etc the BBC must be now going through their back catalogue to see what shows or movies they can air instead. Newest victim - London Marathon.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Could attend Cheltenham and then get the virus a week later. -
I don't work at this hospital which has just got a case (ward 7 and 8 closed off apparently according to my boss at Wexham), but I did my 6 week training there and 90% of staff who work with me come from that hospital daily. Some live on site. I also come into contact with the porters in the post room reguarly who sort out the post coming from that hospital daily. I feel i'm going to get it or my department is going to be closed for a short time, lol.

Does that include people watching on iplayer, Netflix, BBC America and other streaming services? Looking at Wikipedia those are the same ratings roughly for Peter Capaldi's last run. I really think Doctor Who should go back to being on Saturday nights.

Over the last week people have been panic buying the following: - Whisky/other alcohol - Hand sanitiser/soap - Tea or coffee - Paracetamol - Toilet Rolls - Pasta - Eggs (picture from my local Sainsburys) Anything else?

How much is it to be tested in America if you don't have health insurance though? I imagine some people have it but can't afford to get tested. Meanwhile update on hoarding things at supermarkets - dad just went out shopping in Tescos and the shelves are empty of whisky, lol. Edit - Italy has quarantined 16 million people

Current status of panic buying: My friend with IBS, gets migraines, has various food allergies (can't eat gluten and dairy) and who is 21 weeks pregnant can't buy paracetamol for the pain she is in or she can but it's triple the price.

Nicholas Tucci has died aged 38 of cancer.

I would be more concerned about the people attending Crufts this week. I live near Reading and most you should be worried about are the homeless people by the train station tbh.

I hate that hospital because I had a job interview there once and because the site is so big and confusing it made me 20 minutes late for the interview, lol. But joy that the 1st death is near me. Also...have a meme:

Considering Japan's population is slowing cos nobody is having as many babies, kinda a bad time for them to go through a cull.
