Killing Me Softly was the Grover Cleveland, its run interrupted by one week of Three Lions at no.1. No songs from ’91, ’94 or ’98, two each from ’90, ’92 and ’97. Time spent at no.1 trends down as the decade wore on, as we saw in the sheer number of shit hit singles we waded through in recent weeks. Is it just me, or are these mostly slower, more mellow tracks? Nothing is especially poppy or high energy.
