There is no official deadline for entries to this competition. As long as it's in good faith (good faith is mentioned in the rules and not an attempt at a Benedict pun) If you would like something different than what is on the Masterlist, now is the right time to post a new comment and let me know. I'm suggesting you post your whole list with only the new changes included if you would like Tongo placed in there as I'm not entirely clear if you're wanting that right now. I will "timestamp" any new changes made.

All edits from this point forward may be checked and questioned. If you're just placing your first sub onto your list, that will be automatically considered and you don't need to make a new list. Please make a brand new comment for new lists or edits - the masterlist has already been compiled. Edits of old comments will go unnoticed. I appreciate your curtesy and will add it on promptly. I have time zones in mind - if someone dies in 1st of January 2023 in Australia but that's still 2022 in the UK and the USA, I think the consideration would always go to the time zone where that person died.

I cancelled on New Years Plans to "look after my dog" - I think the Deathlisting may have been a small contribution to that as well. Large amount of selections like this are usually where I make my mistakes, so I'm trying to be careful as it is the end of the year. Feel free to check the records and stand up for your list - you deserve it. People also called the Pope different things in their list which adds to more potential mistakes. I've tried to be thorough and look for different things he might have been called. (things considered were "pope", "benedict", and I did "XVI" not thinking it would pick any up that I missed - but it picked up our tied champ, gcreptile, who called him Benedikt XVI. I will be tracking times that people submit their list starting in 80 minutes, which is new years in my time zone. "Tracking times" doesn't mean anything, it shouldn't handicap you. I've never formally rejected a late submission, just that if someone dies early in the year it could be up for discussion. So I wouldn't say without scrutiny, but it shouldn't matter.

This competition's masterlist will be compiled now. Changes after that aren't against the rules, but will need to be justified and agreed to by me --- I welcome scrutiny from other members for changes or new lists that use new information or seem to be in bad faith. New changes or new lists should be made through a new comment. (I think I've said something about until after the fireworks, but I think it would be better right now to avoid any potential 1st of January controversy) Any lists or changes made using information that was only available at "a later time (e.g. 2023)" will he heavily scrutinised and may result in disqualification of picks - so don't push my leniency I'll put a strict line in the sand as time goes on for no more changes, but I won't formally acknowledge a date for this despite having one in mind - past January 1st is more than generous. This is primarily for new lists to be submitted - last year there were more than a few late entries which I am more than happy to accomodate for. I'll continue keeping an eye and being busy on this site for the next week before I plan to go on holiday. Looks like a competitive list. Aside from the annoying capital letters (which would be cool if you could change before I add it onto the masterlist) I also see some obvious spelling errors which will result in your picks being missed when I add them on - e.g. John Ackland, Jane Rossington, XV1 (okay XV1 probably wouldn't make my search miss it but it's incorrect )

It is okay to change your list in any way before I put it onto the masterlist - it's why I'm not compiling everyones lists until the fireworks start. Any other attempted changes may be considered. Late submissions will also be considered (just like last year) as long as they can't be argued to be using information from 2023 to have an advantage.

Biggest frustration is that I'm just quickly putting together my own list now (which has had a mess of names suggested in my notes as I've seen need to all year) and Pele was number one. Good to have one last death before the new years, I'll update it before the fireworks.
