BBC won't be able to sit on it at all, they will break the news as soon as they know, the Palace might stall for perhaps half an hour or so before telling the BBC. maybe to message the Commonweath realms first but not for much longer than that.

If they ever changed the National Anthem, any words would displease somebody or other, perhaps we would follow the example of the Spanish and have an anthem that is just music without words, my suggestion would be Nimrod by Sir Edward Elgar.

We haven't had to have a political figure as our head of state, that's something positive in my opinion.

I would guess that if she dies this month, it will be in May or June next year, if she clings on 'til say March 2023 it might be later that same year, George IV died in February 1952 and the Queen wasn't crowned until 2nd of June 1953, for an older King, 14 months seems a bit too long to wait, so they might speed it up.

Liz Trus's real legal name is Mrs. Mary O'Leary.

Also, Elizabeth I was from the Welsh Tudor family, but it didn't stop the current Queen becoming Elizabeth II.

Beaten a short head, oh dear, that's it then.

If she dies tonight, Charles will immediately become King. There won't be time for any public debate.

There will be one day off for her State Funeral and another for Charles III's Coronation sometime later.

HM has a runner in the 4.35 at Epsom, perhaps a win there will perk her up.

It will seem strange having a King.

I've never met The Queen but I'm pretty certain that she would regard attending the Remembrance Day ceremony as being the most important and sacred Royal duty of them all. The fact that she's not going to be there today is pretty serious.

I don't know about her health, but she will never abdicate, she remembers the problems her Father had after his brother walked out on us, although it's not the same thing I recon she's made a solemn vow never to abdicate, she would rather retire and make Charles a Prince Regent instead. -

The Platinum Jubilee is going to be a rather muted affair next year. The extra day off is Friday 3rd of June, they are moving the late Spring Bank Holiday to Thursday the 2nd. -

Clarissa Eden is the current oldest living spouse of a British Prime Minister. she was born on 28th of June 1920. She is a niece of Sir Winston Churchill being a daughter of his only brother, Major Jack Spencer-Churchill and is related to several branches of the British aristocracy. Becoming Anthony Eden's second wife in 1952, she became a Countess after Eden was ennobled following his short lived Premiership. She will reach the age of 101 this year but will still have some way to go to overtake Mary Wilson as the oldest Prime Ministerial spouse ever. However, if Boris Johnson ties the knot with his partner Carrie Symonds who at 32 is 24 years his junior, there might eventually be another contender.

Yes you are right and I had to check because I've always believed that the 'finest hour' speech was made after the Battle of Britain and that the 'fight on the beaches' speech was after the fall of France, in fact that one was delivered on 4th of June 1940 whilst the battle for France was still raging.

Hello This is my first ever post. I would like to nominate the former mercenary and British soldier Colonel 'Mad Mike' Hoare. He's led an extraordinary and fascinating life, you can read all about him on Wikipedia. We've all got to go sometime of course but Mike Hoare will celebrate his 101st birthday if he survives until March 17th 2020.
