I have never been this excited for someone else’s birthday to include my own family.

I'm glad it was fake. I really badly want him to make it to 100.

Oh, wow. I didn’t realize it was that long! Here I was thinking old Chomsky was going to break an important streak.

What’s the record for longest span of days between deaths on the list?

Can he last 109 more days for the century mark?

I think he still surfs as well.

You are of course correct that he could die of a sudden heart attack but literally every human could suffer the same fate at any time. My opinion from watching the video of his speech is that he does not appear frail or sickly meaning that all things being equal I doubt he will die soon. Sure he could bang his head and die like Bob Saget but compared to other people of his age he looks healthy and together.

Yeah, he's not dying this year.

He looks fine. I very much doubt he will die anytime soon.

Norm MacDonald did it the right way. If I knew I was surely dying I don’t believe I would tell anyone other than my family. It’s a private affair and “sharing the news” is just attention seeking behavior. Jimmy Buffett also did it right. I was shocked by both of their deaths.

I thought the same thing but then I just saw him in an interview and he looked and sounded as well as someone on the precipice of a century can look. It could very well be, however, that he is unwell which is why CBS chose to honor him.

It is remarkable how long he has lingered. It will be a significant achievement if he remains alive at his one year hospice anniversary in February.
