Phillip J. Smith, the former chairman and co-CEO of theatrical giant Shubert Organization, has died. He was 89. His career spanned 63 years and saw him start out as a box office treasurer, rising through the ranks to the top of the organization. Smith retired in June 2020. Heddle and Marnie McBean won Olympic gold medals in 1992 and 1996 in the coxless pair and double sculls respectively. The patriarch's (Bill Loud) death did get reported in the Dead of 2018 thread and was a pick in a couple of deadpools. I'm too young to have remembered the show, but quite before its time, given the explosion of reality series the past 20 years. I believe one of the sons was gay and part of what unfolded was the family dynamic related to his being out.
