A suggestion was made at the beginning of this year in the Ideas and Possibilities for 2021 thread of Japanese economist Hiromitsu Ishi, diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2016. Eddie Shack, one of the most colourful players in NHL history, having played over 1,000 games and assessed nearly 1,500 penalty minutes, has died. He was 83. George Elroy Boyd, Canada's first Black national newscaster, has died. He was 68. Ed Napoleon, a key member of Johnny Oates staff during the Rangers first three AL West titles, died April 28th. He was 82. His death is being reported today (July 22nd). Napoleon spent 15 years as a minor league player during a career in baseball that spanned 45 years. He was instrumental in developing multi-sport talent Bo Jackson, among others.
