She was accepted over multiple years, including after they began tightening qualification. They'd ruled others who'd previously been accepted as no longer qualifying, but not her. I'm not sure I'd call it a mistake, but I can understand your diplomacy on the matter. With Fornasier attaining a (somewhat) higher threshold for qualifying, a case can be made for the committee to rethink its decision.
-
I don't believe Vicky Phelan even had an occupation, unlike Fornasier. She was strictly a cervical cancer campaigner and essentially FFBI. However, she was deemed acceptable. It's not unreasonable to believe Fornasier should qualify.
-
Well that certainly sucks considering the type of coverage Fornasier is receiving (national English & Australian media). So my third & final sub comes into play, unless somebody convinces the committee otherwise.

Lise Norgaard, a Danish journalist and writer, has died. She was 105. It appears she died January 1st, but that could get adjusted. She had been a 2022 DDP solo. https://nyheder.tv2.dk/samfund/2023-01-02-lise-noergaard-er-doed (Danish language obit)

Fame is often a subjective viewpoint. Is someone who played three games in the Premier League five years ago famous? What about a character actor who had a recurring role on a 1990s top 10 American sitcom? Or a former finance minister of Fiji? Each deadpool has someone (or multiple someones) who make that determination.

While most people are more interested in Derby Dead Pool statistics, this is the pool I've played the longest. After 15 years, my basic stats are as follows: Years completed: 15 (2008 to 2022) Career wins: 2 (2018 and 2019) Career top ten finishes: 12 (2011 through 2022, inclusive) Career hits (official): 191* Career points: 2300** * Excludes 2012 hit Barry Blaikie and 2017 hit Dennis Stamp, for which no acceptable obituaries were published and no points were awarded. Also excludes 2011 hit for Gordon Murray, who was retroactively disallowed. ** Includes tentative 2022 youngest hit bonus points. Excludes 2023 points for Frank McGarvey hit.

Congratulations on the accomplishment! For context, this was the 18th year the pool has been run. It's been essentially the same format (40 picks) going back at least as far as 2008, and probably longer.

Team submitted yesterday. Seven rejected picks. One further rejection among the seven proposed replacements. I will reveal the rejected picks January 1st, or shortly thereafter. (Edit: a replacement also submitted due to the death of Pele.) (Edit 2: a replacement also submitted due to the death of Don West.) (Edit 3: a replacement also submitted due to the death of Benedict XVI) (Edit 4: a replacement also submitted due to the death of Jeremiah Green, who had been my replacement pick for Pele) (Edit 5: a replacement also submitted to replace the rejected replacement due to the death of Jeremiah Green, who had been my replacement pick for Pele.... who swallowed a dog to catch the cat, who swallowed a cat to catch the mouse, who swallowed a mouse to catch the fly. I don't know why she swallowed the fly...Perhaps she'll die... as long as she dies in 2023 and not 2022, so I don't need a sub for the old lady, too. )
