I’m in for Round 2. Just have to hope now that two of Markb4’s oldies don’t decide to croak it in the next 10hrs.

Henry Gray scores for a few players including your truly. https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/entertainment_life/music/article_99a7dcb6-f450-11e9-8291-0742ebb5a887.amp.html Gives me a little breathing room in my match, and certainly spices up the skinny/Sir creep tie!

Anything before September would be earlier than expected

4 hits so far, and we are not yet through the first week of February. Its fair to say that this is not going well!

What’s the cut off time? 11.59?

Old Crem might be hanging that quote up on the dressing room wall before the first round match - you are obviously not giving him/her much chance against JK I've been doing my scouting on MarkB4 - a first round exit last year gives me some hope. happy to have avoided some established forum names in the first round. However the "reward" is to face Alt Obits guy in the second round - that's a toughie for whoever gets through.

David Graham, the former Irish Cricketer, is listed on three teams, including the theme teams #1 Hits and I Hear Voices. Two different David Grahams (and given that the third team Worm Fodder are all household names, I suspect they meant a different David Graham as well.) Incidentally , if it is considered bad form to point out errors, please say stop before I piss people off.

I see that Conway Berners-Lee was picked as a Joker in a Theme Team. If he dies for a second time, will that fact alone guarantee him a QO this time around?
-
Thanks Clorox. Somehow I had completely missed your post on 24th December, so I had no idea I was in the lead. It came as quite a pleasant surprise today when I saw that I had won it. I am still completely bewildered by the scoring system in this game, so I don't really know HOW I won it, but I'll happily take it!! Thanks for running the game - it seems like a lot of hard work for little reward.

Congratulations DI on a fantastic victory - never in doubt for the last few months. We were all playing for the minor places. Well done Dr.T for a valiant defence of the title. I'm pretty chuffed with my 3rd place finish- very much beginners luck. I suspect though that I will spend the next 10 years fruitlessly trying to match it. Thanks Spade for hosting - I can only begin to imagine the amount of work that went into it.

I'd like to enter too please. I suspect that my research skills are insufficient to pick up the obscure Ecuadorian town councillors or Lithuanian backgammon players that are necessary to do well in this competition, but I might as well give it a go. About three quarter of the entrants so far seem convinced that they will be knocked out in the first round, so with a good draw maybe the dizzy heights of the second round are within reach.

Pete Frates makes it 18 hits for me. Assuming the pool is resurrected, that should hopefully leave me in a decent position. (although who knows, given the oddities of the scoring system).

They seek him here, they seek him there...…… Once You Go Black is my main team. Been lurking around here for a while but only signed up this year. Haven't posted much, mainly because I keep forgetting my password!

Could I make an appeal for points for Grace Catherine Jones (died 7th June). She is on my list as Catherine Grace Jones, which might be because I submitted my team with the surnames first, or might simply be because I made a balls of it and got her name mixed up. Either way, that’s who I intended (honestly!).

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9289663/britains-oldest-woman-grace-jones-dies-112/amp/ a 5th hit for me. All a little too soon I fear.

Why the two 5s? -
Especially not if, as stated in the article, the lions were kept in separate pens. Shooting one may have been necessary, but why the need for the other? And has no-one there ever heard of tranquilizer guns?

Kevin Roche is a hit for me. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/environment/distinguished-irish-architect-kevin-roche-dies-aged-96-1.3812597?mode=amp

My first ever unique hit in the DDP, and first hit for my theme team, provided he gets a QO. What are his chances? (I’m new to this!)

There looks to be a few theme teams that are not marked as such, including my own Irish-themed team, The Sick-bed of Cuchulainn. There is also a biographical error on one of my picks. Brian Kennedy represented Ireland in the 2006 Eurovision, not the UK as stated. The UK was of course represented that year by the music legend that was Daz Sampson.

Also hope I have the rules right on this. June Brown in at No. 8. Everyone else drops down a place. I better put in a sub this time, Angela Lansbury please. Do do I need to edit my original post?
