That’s the second person on my February team that went in March after I’d dropped them. I really must learn to be a little more patient.

This next round could be an absolute bloodbath. Definitely some high scoring matches on the cards. I guess the tactic is to wait until the last minute, and pack the team with oldies who are in hospital with Coronavirus.

I’ve just noticed that John Prescott, the professional Tom Jones impersonator, is apparently on 5 teams, including a theme team of uk labour politicians. I’m going out on a limb here, but I suspect that may not be the John Prescott they meant.

Amen to that. Very disheartening when you spend hours googling for good names, then you see names on the master list that 5 or 6 people have picked and you have never heard of them.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the latest a cup pick ever died to win a match.? Have there been many last day deaths to settle a tie?

Old Crem might be hanging that quote up on the dressing room wall before the first round match - you are obviously not giving him/her much chance against JK I've been doing my scouting on MarkB4 - a first round exit last year gives me some hope. happy to have avoided some established forum names in the first round. However the "reward" is to face Alt Obits guy in the second round - that's a toughie for whoever gets through.

David Graham, the former Irish Cricketer, is listed on three teams, including the theme teams #1 Hits and I Hear Voices. Two different David Grahams (and given that the third team Worm Fodder are all household names, I suspect they meant a different David Graham as well.) Incidentally , if it is considered bad form to point out errors, please say stop before I piss people off.

I see that Conway Berners-Lee was picked as a Joker in a Theme Team. If he dies for a second time, will that fact alone guarantee him a QO this time around?

Thanks Clorox. Somehow I had completely missed your post on 24th December, so I had no idea I was in the lead. It came as quite a pleasant surprise today when I saw that I had won it. I am still completely bewildered by the scoring system in this game, so I don't really know HOW I won it, but I'll happily take it!! Congratulations DI on a fantastic victory - never in doubt for the last few months. We were all playing for the minor places. Well done Dr.T for a valiant defence of the title. I'm pretty chuffed with my 3rd place finish- very much beginners luck. I suspect though that I will spend the next 10 years fruitlessly trying to match it. Thanks Spade for hosting - I can only begin to imagine the amount of work that went into it.

I'd like to enter too please. I suspect that my research skills are insufficient to pick up the obscure Ecuadorian town councillors or Lithuanian backgammon players that are necessary to do well in this competition, but I might as well give it a go. About three quarter of the entrants so far seem convinced that they will be knocked out in the first round, so with a good draw maybe the dizzy heights of the second round are within reach.
