Dan Poulter has defected from the Tories to Labour.

Sorry, but this does not sit right with me. I know Poulter is standing down at the GE anyway and not seeking reelection, but if it has taken him this fucking long to realise that the Tories are disgusting then frankly Labour should be telling him to fuck all the way off. Short term or not, the fact they've allowed him to sit in their name is not a good look. I know it has been done before but sweet fucking Christ, look at how sickening the Tories have been over the last four years in particular, and Poulter stayed? Nahhh he can get straight in the sea.

Keir Starmer doesn’t care if 5-10% of the population think he is too right wing - he wants as many Tories votes as possible and is assuming in the end few will switch to the Greens.

Her views on Israel are well known.

Sick or quietly sidelined, or both.

I doubt they have the power to quietly sideline her - she could just quit and become independent.

Watching TalkTV earlier (god knows why). They were discussing the vote of no confidence in Humza Useless next week. Apparently one of the opposition MSPs is “too ill to attend”.

Anyone know who it could be?

I’m surprised Scotland doesn’t have proxy voting like Westminster now has for ill MP’s.

She's an outstanding journalist. Think she's been taken off for criticising Netanyahu.

I think LBC would say that. I didn’t see any social media backlash  to anything she said or anyone official complaining.

My thoughts exactly. It has an Elizabeth II feel to it, and it almost has a formula now.

Speculation/rumours of ill health start surfacing --> intensify over a number of days --> Palace remains quiet and don't deny or clarify anything --> Palace puts the monarch on some kind of duty and releases a positive but generic and vague soundbite to keep speculation at bay

Only complication is how to explain future missing events without raising the alarm. Elizabeth was twenty years old and not publicly known to have cancer. Harder for Charles to miss or even delay things without it being suspicious.

Cash is king! (Pardon the pun).

I'm not a direct debit, card payment kind of guy. I was brought up in the proud tradition of Scottish thrift. Pay for what you can afford, pay in cash and always, always get a receipt. It never ceases to amaze me when people tap their phones on the bus.

The cashless society, the internet banking - all falls down when something goes wrong with the system. You can't argue with hard money though.

In middle class parts of London you can’t use cash in many businesses,

  7. I can’t see him dying anytime soon as his daughter has a chance of being France’s PM later this year if the government collapses and early parliamentary elections are held and a Cohabitation government with President Macron has to be held.

LE24 this time next week. Remember how they went for the Tories last year? Here's the YouGov voting intention poll, with changes compared to one week before LE23.

    LAB: 45% (+4)

    CON: 20% (-7)

    REF: 13% (+6)

    LDM: 9% (-2)

    GRN: 7% (=)

They are relatively few reform candidates standing in the locals that their absence from many seats will be a big factor.
