I can’t see her leaving before 2029 unless she dies. Even through the seat is very safe Labour won’t encourage a by election either.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-11689179/Dame-Esther-Rantzen-reveals-diagnosed-lung-cancer-spread.html If she makes it to 2024 a main list cert but that feels rather unlikely.

Her voice still sounds OK here.

Pretty much everyone expected it be closer through the Bill’s supporters always seemed more confident (And had better organisation because the opposition to it arguably a broader mix of the political spectrum which means more disconnected) I’m glad I’m not an MP because I would probably abstain as I think the Bill is quite flawed but I can’t say I wouldn’t consider an assisted death. -
The Assisted Dying bill strongly backed by Esther has passed its second reeding stage 330 to 275. Probably a big enough margin that it might also pass third reading as well because I am not sure they are enough of the David Davis view to vote for Second reading but minded to reject later on. Suspect she will be on the Radio later to talk about as she was on LBC the other day briefly.

It’s not ground but you can never tell in cases like this if the media and political mood becomes she should quit as MP
-
Yet her no Vote in a few hours will be a proxy vote.

How long till there is a by election in Sheffield Heeley. Can’t imaging Labout will be keen for one even through it doesn’t seem a seat the Tories or Reform could win even with Labour’s current bad poll ratings.

Louise Haigh resigns as Transport secretary. Lots of speculation that Starmer and McSwenney will be happy to get one of the most left members of the cabinet gome - afterall Starmer has known the facts since 2020. -
She has been given a proxy vote in the commons lasting until 27th June 2025. https://commonsbusiness.parliament.uk/Document/90402/Html?subType=Standard
