This year we have 17 World War 2 Veterans (also includes people who served in the Home Front) on the Deathlist:

    1. Herman Wouk (born 1915)

    2. Kirk Douglas (born 1916)

    3. Vera Lynn (born 1917)

    4. Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh (born 1921)

    5. Betty White (born 1922)

    6. Henry Kissinger (born 1923)

    7. Bob Dole (born 1923)

    8. Murray Walker (born 1923)

    9. Bob Barker (born 1923)

    10. Tony Britton (born 1924)

    11. Jimmy Carter (born 1924)

    12. Dick Van Dyke (born 1925)

    13. Valery Giscard d'Estaing (born 1926)

    14. June Brown (born 1927)

    15. Sidney Poitier (born 1927)

    16. Harry Belafonte (born 1927)

    17. Jerry Lewis (born 1927)

Jerry Stiller served in WW2 according to Wiki.

And Olivia De Haviland's entertainment trips with USA troops and Pierre Cardin's red cross could count as service in some capacity.

June Brown's home front service - somebody remind me. I'm assuming she smoked so much that Nazi reconnaissance aircraft couldn't separate out the damage from incendiary devices and the fug from tobacco.

WREN according to Wiki. I have actually read her autobiography but can't remember what she said about her war service.

  3. I have seen it mentioned on here but can't find a full definition - what is the Raymond Hewlett rule. As far as I can tell he is still alive so is it something to do false obit's?

  4. I am going to propose that Last Word should be added to QO rules in the  (in the  unlikely event a subject is covered without any other qualifying obituary but could happen - especially towards the end of each year when such a QO might not appear.)

I wonder which currently living person has accumulated the most amount of votes since these polls first began. I'd say it's either Kirk Douglas, Prince Philip or Vera Lynn. Btw, I picked the latter one.

Maybe Philip because he has had public hospitalizations .

Reminds me that Ian Watkins' mother was meant to be on her last legs during his trial...

Did she attend his trial? Rolf's wife must be a good actress if she faked it as she looked like was ready to go.

The author Kate Figes, a DDP pick, has been ominously quiet on her Twitter and Facebook pages for several weeks now.  Although, to be fair, most of her Twitter output consisted of retweeting pro-Remain twaddle, so she might have given up on the fight for European solidarity rather than the fight for life itself.

Be suspicious if someone very political didn't chirp up tonight.

I wonder... maybe we should publish the crowdsourced deathlist before the new year?

This way, the committee already gets our concise opinion before they decide.

It saves them time, increases hits, and is probably the way it's going to go anyway.

Possible - through too soon means even more ate announcements like Bob Hawke would miss out.

Yes, because they're in the Daily Mail, a QO.

Mail Online consider themselves a separate entity to the Daily Mail through really it's the same as the different divisions of BBC news.

How long will Theresa May remain on the backbenches?

Can't see the Tories calling a General Election, even with a change of leader.

Claims she won't go until the next election - but voting for things she clearly doesn't believe in might see her change her mind like David Cameron did.
