Probably deserves a thread...but is this one of the "youngest" 101-year-olds on the planet? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/science-environment-53644147/james-lovelock-gaia-theory-creator-on-coronavirus-and-turning-101

It's more a private members' club than a care home, is it not? He remains one of the greatest British actors of his era. Not for his acting ability, which was what it was (and what was needed back then), but for never knowingly not bedding at least one of his co-stars in every performance!

Former pro-wrestler? Wouldn't be so sure! His most recent bout was in November 2018!

Imagine one gets a better class of infection in a private hospital than an NHS outfit. -

I'd like to see it going to court...because as soon as the Queen walked into the court, the judge would have to vacate the bench on the basis they are representing the Crown and there can't be two crowns. And you're not going to see a case of Regina v Regina's Son any time soon. Not to mention, all else aside, hospital visiting rules are set by individual trusts or, in the case of private hospitals, the hospital. At worst, the rules of a hospital have been broken. But this hospital's website makes clear visitors are not entirely banned. -
She holds Australian citizenship but I don't think occupation is on their passports either.

He told him his will makes clear he isn't his father and his half-brother Andrew is heir to the throne? -

Perhaps we are looking at this wrong. Charles was there for a short time because he was letting Philip know the Queen is dead! -

Does seem quick. Does the next of kin have to formally identify the deceased in the event of a hospital death? -

Harry is a much, much closer likeness to Philip than James Hewitt. And he has the colouring of his mother's side of the family. I have more belief in the claims Andrew is the result of an affair between the Queen and Lord Porchester, in all honesty. -

As much as he is easy to take the piss out of, his wartime service was much, much more than "just being there" - especially his actions during the invasion of Italy. Probably would have risen very high up the Royal Navy if he didn't have to give it up. Also...how many other living people are there who were at the Japanese surrender ceremony as a commissioned officer? He's also in the line of succession to the British throne as a descendent of Sophie of Hanover, but a long, long way down it (and about 100th when he was born). -

Because Captain Tom would have made a full and complete recovery from *checks notes* double pneumonia at the age of 100 if he hadn't caught Covid... I also imagine infection control is much easier at the sort of hospital senior royals use, too. -
British soldiers, to be precise, and there was a photograph of the chap in a Celtic shirt in front of an Irish flag. No better or worse than the average Saturday at Parkhead.

If I had spent Christmas with Cliff and Russ Abbot, I'd probably be dead by now...
-
Not sure if it's a national thing, but in these parts people are allowed to visit family members if they are about to die. Which is compassionate, but also nuts as hospitals are the best place to go if you want to catch, and spread, Covid.
-
Probably gone by the morning if the hospital have allowed his family to be with him.

Not as expected when the thread was started. Far too young. Strange chap who seemed troubled at times, shame he didn't reconcile with some of his former colleagues (assuming he didn't) when he had the chance.
-
He's the biggest miss of 2021 so far! Doubt it will stay that way for long, admittedly.

Gerry Marsden.

Gorbachev is about a hundred rungs higher, surely? I'd imagine the average Brit* or Italian would know who he was, which can't be said for Larry. *In reality, I dread to think just how few people in the UK know who Gorbachev is these days...
-
If Larry King dies, which isn't unlikely, then it would be a quiet year for him to be the biggest miss of it.
-
Whose life did he save?! I have nothing against him. It's his family who are whoring out his image.

Do any committee members still post?
