Johnny Dumfries aka the Marquess of Bute dead at 62. Some sources saying it was after a short illness. Don't think there was any reports of him being ill recently. Last I heard of him, he was getting trouble for breaking COVID restrictions in December. Edit: Clarkson saying it was cancer

    Rush Limbaugh

Amazingly I found out he was dead when glancing at the Deaths in 2021 page on Wikipedia. Only other major death I found out like that was Jeffery Epstein.

This picture will totally fuck with your mind.

    Notable Coronavirus Victims

Second congressman the GOP has lost to COVID. Most normal parties would probably starting to take it seriously now giving how much it's eating away at their ranks but they're not a normal party. Looking at dates (him being diagnosed 21 January) - is it possible he caught it during the events at the Capitol? Another death as a result of that day?

    George P. Shultz

He actually died on the 110th anniversary of old Ronnie Reagan's birth.

    Larry King

Here's a clip that's not aged well. Doubt Rubin won't be too fond of this being shown again and again.

    Larry King

In my view yes. I said a few weeks ago that if it took him, he'd be the biggest yet. Someone mentioned Giscard which is worth a shout but he's nowhere near as a big name as Larry King was.

John Hogan has died of COVID. Huge figure in F1 history, he was the man behind Marlboro's involvement in the sport for many years, including their sponsorship of McLaren and Ferrari and helped discover Mika Hakkinen. Was key in IndyCar as well due to his relationship with Roger Penske.

If he goes, is it the biggest COVID death yet?

    John Hume

His impact seems to have been forgotten a bit in recent years (rather ironically as he had dementia) but back in the day (i.e late 90s) he was regarded as one of the greatest Irishmen that ever lived and even won such a poll a decade ago. The thing is that he was a major figure in Northern Ireland for over thirty years, from the beginning to the end of the Troubles (perhaps only Paisley was the other person as significant for the entirety of the Troubles), starting him from crusading for civil rights for Catholics against the unionist Stormont government in the late sixties. More than that, he was perhaps at some stages the only shining light among darkness, who believed that everyone's differences could be solved by peace and not more killing. It was also him that got the US politicians involved - the likes of Ted Kennedy and Tip O'Neill turned to him for advice, and and as such it ended up being something Clinton wanted to get involved in. It was also him that brought Sinn Fein and ergo the IRA in from the cold and to the negotiating table. Without him, there is simply no Good Friday Agreement, which is widely seen as one of the most successful peace settlements in modern history, and Northern Ireland would be a much more different, and much worse place than it is today

Indeed it might not kill him but could help kill his career with Vettel eyeing up the Aston seat next year. Not that he wishes his old teammate ill, but Nico Hulkenberg might be rubbing his hands with glee at this moment in time - might be an opportunity for him in a car well capable of podium.

Sergio Perez has the 'rona and is out of the British Grand Prix (and the 70th Anniversary thing). Given that he's a young athlete, there's a 99.9% chance he'll get through it, but still could be one of the more unusual ways we've lost a driver.

    The Chequered Flag

Hope he pulls through, but not looking great. If he does die, it would seem eerily similar to Clay Regazzoni's fate - Italian-speaking F1 driver who was paralysed in a racing accident dying in a collision with a truck

    Businesspeople, Investors, CEO's

Dutch industralist Tiede Herrema has died aged 99, just days after his wife. He was based in Ireland for many years, and infamously was kidnapped by the IRA in 1975 and held captive for 36 days. He later forgave and met with his kidnappers.

Richard Divila, designer for the ill-fated Fittipaldi team has died age 74 after a short illness in France. I wonder if it's THAT short illness?
