Thanks. I'm sorry to say it just came back on after giving myself a three week timeout because I felt my behavior on here was not as ethical as it should. I will be notifying administration and privately apologize to a few members. It is very silly to channel grief into childish online behavior.

I will try to update the list by the weekend. Apologies I have not been in the best place the last few weeks.

Thanks for posting this Toast. Shared this with some co workers today.

2024 has also claimed Pasqually P Pieplate. https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/chuck-e-cheese-removing-animatronic-band-for-good-1235682086/

Guy literally waited two years for someone to talk about his band so he could post that. Whoever he is, his lurking skills are admirable.

A moderate reformer, President Raisi brought Saudi Arabia forward from 1205 to values more in line with the 1220s. -

That sounds right. In my head, the next oldest after Baxter would be Phyllida Law.

Longest British marriages, appeal for information.
dimreaper replied to Master Obit's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Went back through my veterans research. Found two cases of British expats whose marriages lasted past 75 years. In both, the marriages took place outside the U.K., but in both spouses, both the husband and wife were British born. Probably not within your scope of research since neither couple resided in the U.K. during their marriage, but thought they were interesting cases none the less. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/69367550/claude-stanley-choules https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/71061895/george_frederick_ives -

3rd time it's been posted and absolutely nothing new, except he voted. I don't know what all the excitement is about. Some one receiving end of life treatment is by definition "nearing the end".

In a world of much uncertainty, there are two things us deathlisters can take for granted. One is that Jimmy Carter is "coming to the end" and this may be James Whale's "Last Christmas".
-
This was already posted last Thursday. I also fail to see how this is a major update. This is the same grandson who was telling us he was "nearing the end" back in September. All he really talks about is how is grandfather is essentially waiting to die.

Boating accident?

I actually remember him form a contentious interview he had with Mel Gibson. He was questioning Mel about his controversial remarks back in 2006, and he responded by asking him if he "had a dog in this fight" drawing attention to his Jewish last name. He also once confused Samuel L Jackson with Laurence Fishburne in the middle of an interview.

Such a fragile ego he has.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/784514/Longest-marriage-Britain-77-years-secret Being that this was covered by the UK press, i'm sure you already have it on your list. Do you by chance have any updates on the couples dates of death. I suspect they are now both gone. -

https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/lifetime-of-love-2017/ Any word on if this marriage lasted to 75 years? I imagine they're both gone by now. -
You can add Bernard Hill to the list of the missed. He was last chosen in 2020.

I rolled my eyes when I first saw this thread, but you seem to be coming from a genuine place. I was big into the Great War when I grew up. Alfred Razzell was a veteran who gave several interviews in the 80s and 90s for British tv documentaries on the conflict. Most notably in "A Game of Ghosts" where he related the heartbreaking story of having to leave behind an injured friend (Bill Hubbard) in no mans land. At the time of his death in 1995, he had been married to for nearly 76 years. Below is a link that includes a photo of him and his wife. To my knowledge, his was the longest marriage amongst Great War Veterans (although I could easily be wrong about that as I doubt such milestones were tracked by organizations such as the IWM) https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/213225316/alfred-charles-razzell -
If he wasn't joking, i'd start the worry he was suffering from dementia.

Why wouldn't he be? It was reported earlier this year that he still watches the news.
