  1. I noticed more people walking, cycling and driving past my front window than when Diana had her funeral. Make of that what you will. Also, what about those parts of the World that don't have electricity, let alone a working TV or radio?

My best estimate is that 19,441,008 people in the UK tuned in yesterday and 33,186,995 cups of tea were made. Don't shoot me as, I admit, my level of accuracy isn't quite what it was.

No angry mob, a few folk who look as if they don't know what to so with themselves as all the amusement arcades are closed..

Plus the Queens Arms is closed again, but the Kings Arms is open.

The opposite with me. The King Charles Head (Goring Heath) closed years ago and the Queen's Head (Bradfileld) opens at 5pm. I won't be popping in as I'm knackered after queuing for many hours.

I’ve just checked Radio Times website for tomorrow. At least 35 channels including all possible Sky channels are broadcasting the funeral at the same time.

Channel 5 has The Emoji Movie.

I was hoping that the BBC would put on a dedicated channel like they did for the 2012 Olympics. I think a Royal channel would be interesting, considering that we already have a parliament channel.

  4. I can't help thinking that this great man will have more DL entries than anybody else, due to the many.more years (hopefully) that he has left. If anybody else deserves a ceremonial funeral, nobody is more fitting. What this man has done, is nothing short of remarkable. In my humble opinion he's the greatest naturalist to ever walk the Earth, move over Charles Darwin!

I did shed a tear for QE2, but I'll be a blubbering wreck when Sir David leaves us.

Well, tbf, you will be here for as long as you are tolerated then you will be fucked off only for you to return as a new user, as you do.

    Until then.....

I wasn't replying to you; however, the same goes for you and the rest of us. I've no plans to leave, so no need to return as a new user. Just carry on as normal and so will I. If you all want to gang up against me, go ahead as I'll only find it amusing.

    Yes, until then.....

No, the DL rocks and you suck.

    That's the subtle difference.

May I politely suggest an anger management consultation as you clearly like to dish out insults to those who oppose your way of thinking. Anyway, no skin off my nose as I'm not offended in the slightest. You need to try a lot harder if you want the response from me that you appear to crave.

I don't directly insult other DL members as we're all entitled to our opinions, even you. I may or may not like what you type, but some things are better left unsaid. I'm here to stay so you just have to accept it.

Anyway... Have a lovely day and it costs nothing to be nice.

@YouOnlyDieOnce - there is a thing called the edit button. Please use it and not post 4 times in a row.

At least you said "please", so I commend your politeness. My phone is a pain in the arse to use, so I'll collate responses into a single reply using my iMac going forward.

I don't know why some people are so secretive about causes of death (sensitive issues aside).  Broadsheet obituaries often don't mention COD.

I am curious about the Queen as her death was clearly unexpected.

Surprised it's not Covid as an excuse to fuck with us all again.

Pick what channel you want to watch the funeral - BBC, ITV or GB News (all without adverts).

BBC - Huw Edwards, Kirsty Young, Fergal Keane, David Dimbleby, Sophie Raworth, Anita Rani and JJ Chalmers

ITV - Mary Nightingale,  Chris Ship, Rageh Omaar, Nina Hossain

Sky News - Kay Burley, Anna Botting, Dermot Murnaghan, Alastair Bruce, Mark Austin

GB News - Eamonn Holmes, Isabel Webster, Alastair Stewart, Anne Diamond, David Starkey, Nigel Farage, Dan Wooton

TalkTV - Piers Morgan gives you a rundown of what happened in the day if you really want him

I hope no major news story happens after Monday because Huw Edwards needs a holiday.

Nice to see something without Clare Balding for a change, but I'm sure that smuggy-arse Nigel Farage will bore us instead on GB News.

My understanding is that Diana wanted to call him Harry but it wasn't deemed suitably royal for the child of a future King, so it was insisted he was called Henry. Diana agreed on the proviso that he would be referred to by the family as Harry.

Well, King Henry IX (excl. Jacobites) is going to have a long wait. It's daft having Harry as short for Henry IMHO. My grandfather (Harold) was called nicknamed Harry, which makes more sense. What's next, Jack being short for John? Or... do we now call a coconut a cunt?

Commented when watching it that they're letting more in now than they were when I went last night. It was quite crowded in the hall, clearly they want to get as many through as possible and try to reduce the queue length a bit (a losing battle if you ask me). Glad I went when I did. I'd have waited as long as necessary but 7.5 hours was plenty, I can't begin to imagine how 22+ hours feels.

If only Heathrow Terminal 3 security and Terminal 5 Border queues were that short. Last time I flew to the US, the shortest part of the journey was ON the aircraft. I've not flown since and not even bothered to renew my passport. Those who are able to queue for more than 5 minutes have my utmost respect and deepest sympathy.

It reminds me of comic relief where they do a video with loads of random celebrities from the 70s and 80s like the Krankies, Keith Harris, Lionel Blair, Frank Bruno and Bernie Clifton and after the surprise at seeing they're still alive comes the shock of seeing how old they look.

That reminds me of Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Bake Off, when we play, "Who the fuck is that and what did they do to become famous?"

  13. Since the human population appears to have bloated exponentially since the last state funeral, I can see 19SEP being the biggest single event that the World has ever seen with massive overcrowding, widespread power surges and 2,126 crowd-related deaths. It's also a shame that Putin, Xi and Trump won't be there as we have plenty of time to get our SAS snipers in position.

Tip... Boil plenty of water and keep it in flasks before 11am on 19SEP, I can only imagine the extent of power cuts once the sheeple of 3rd World Britain switch on their TVs and then switch on their kettles once it starts to get boring. Oh... make sure you have a good bath/shower the day before also.

Center Parcs, yeah.  What a massive bollock they've dropped.

So much so that we've cancelled our October weekend and next Easter break with them, other family and friends are cancelling too. CP could be calling in the administrators next year. Nobody forgets a big fuck-up like that in a hurry.

I am very disappointed that the Queen's corgis were not in the procession.

I was very disappointed that Prince Andrew was. I hope he's not done anything to those corgis, I'd put nothing past that bastard.

No one knows the cause of her death but I am guessing maybe cancer given how heavily it runs on her fathers side of the family.

In that case, she most be the oldest ever cancer victim. I still think BoJo said something  to really upset her as he really is a tactless prick.
