It'll be a strange day monday for those of us at home. I remember Diana's funeral, I don't think I saw a single person drive/walk up the street until gone 2-3pm.  Expecting similar this time

I might go on the M25 in the morning to see if I can do 70mph on it for the very first time, assuming it's open of course!

My local pub is open, they're currently installing a huge marquee with screen and projector. Also they've just ordered double the usual amount of beer. Any pub not open that day will be missing out on their biggest afternoon's takings ever. I won't be going as I can only imagine the queue for the bar. Even on a usual lunchtime I have to order a 4 pint jug, to save queuing up 4 times.

I hate fucking queues! Therefore, there's no way I'm going to queue just see a covered coffin, especially if I can't lift the lid and peek inside. Who knows what's in it..... QE2 could still be alive and in exile for all we know!

Prime minister was told of Queen's death at 16:30 - official spokesman

Liz Truss was informed of the Queen's death at 16:30, the prime minister's official spokesman has said.

The prime minister was told the news by Cabinet Secretary Simon Case.

Not fair, I didn't find out until 20 minutes later, one rule for them and one rule for us.

  3. I'm quite emotional now to be honest. I'm feel bad at announcing it before the BBC did, but I do have some family and friends in high places. I thought that the UK was beyond fucked up due to Boris Johnson, but this is going to hit us very hard, not just the stock markets and the £.

At least the lazy buggers will soon be enjoying yet another day off.

Who's the next Head of State to kick the bucket, Putin? (I wish!)

BBC won't be able to sit on it at all, they will break the news as soon as they know, the Palace might stall for perhaps half an hour or so before telling the BBC. maybe to message the Commonweath realms first but not for much longer than that.

I think the cat will be out of the bag within a couple of minutes.

No new announcements from any official source, so I assume nothing has changed.  No tears evident on the faces of princes in the car, so I assume HM is still living.

They're probably looking forward to her will being read out, not to mention Charles getting a proper job at last!

  6. She passed away at 16:50 this afternoon. My cousin's wife is getting the final touches to the 6pm bulletin ready. Her colleague, Huw Edwards is in bits apparently.

Don't shoot the messenger, it's chaos in the BBC Cardiff office right now. Headless chickens everywhere.

Unpopular opinion but I think Charles will be a dull but popular King overall. When his time comes...

What's to stop him for passing the baton straight to William? I'd be wanting an even more cushy life I was in my 70s, especially with that old nag to feed and muck-out also!
