A great pioneer. She was much more than a simple athlete. Carmen Valero was a two-time world cross country champion in 1976 and 1977. She won 25 Spanish titles. Cross country, 800m, 1500m, 3000m... 15 national records among those distances. One of the best Spanish athletes of all time. I didn't know she was so bad after a massive stroke. She'd have been a great choice for Alt Obituaries and Hartlepool. Rest in peace.
