William "Bill" Recktenwald, a "truly legendary reporter", according to his friend and former colleague, SIUC journalism professor Bill Freivogel, dies at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. He was 79. https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20210821/renowned-chicago-investigative-reporter-bill-recktenwald-dies-at-79 Recktenwald came to the School of Journalism in 1998 after 20 years of working at the Chicago Tribune. He was inducted to the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame in 2008.
