General Election 2024?
Philheybrookbay1 replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
And then Rishi goes on Laura Kussensberg. He didn't come out of it well. I've seen toddlers have less tantrums. Tax tax tax that's all he's got. -
What are your hobbies/talents?

For my sins I'm a football secretary for my local step 5 non league side. It's a tough gig with all the paperwork but I got recognised as a making the club the most friendly to visit and I've got some brilliant friends as a result as far as Bristol out of it. With the players - sometimes I have to be tough and it can be like herding ferrets around an assault course but it's mostly good. I don't sack the managers - leave that to our chairlady who can be brutal if needed! -

Someone in Tory HQ is leaking the daily brief to Alistair Campbell. It's like something from W1A today BREAKING: Am being leaked all the campaign director morning notes from Tory HQ now … here is today’s … we will be fielding C Heaton-Harris on the media this morning. You will know he is not standing but as with M Gove we think this helps us. These departing MPs are able to put a bit of distance from the campaign and when asked to comment eg on betting scandals, unravelling tax lies and the like, they can say it is not a matter for them. But they can then pivot to our line of the day which is that Starmer will take UK back into EU. We need to be careful however, as there is a danger this will make Starmer more popular. So we need to issue the warning gently, especially in Lib Dem areas. Please don’t leak but the Chancellor called the PM yesterday furious at his “Brexit is great”’tweet (overnight focus groups suggest JH has a point but let’s double down to show confidence in our strategy. Tomorrow Sir Gavin Williamson will be main message carrier. Unfortunately most of current cabinet now feel they are in either lost cause seats or marginals so we have to respect their refusal to go out and defend the national campaign. But as you know Gav is a great salesman and we are hoping he can do for Rishi what he once did for fireplaces. No new scandals overnight apart from us using public money to set up party website for candidates. But thankfully there are so many bigger scandals nobody is noticing. And remember … it is no longer about stopping the boats but stopping the votes. STOP THE VOTES. AVOID THE SUPERDEFEAT WE KNOW WE DESERVE. Onwards !!! -

https://x.com/Haggis_UK/status/1805142013664186390?t=wKdndXynII6SpKCG3FR-Sw&s=19 This is quite the car crash from Chris Heaton-Harris. It's OK to change our minds but not Labour. He's literally tied up in knots And to think he was secretary of state for Northern Ireland. -

Hang on. Rwanda policy is crap shocker. Says Tory wanting to be reelected. I said 2 weeks ago, they'd be better saying utterly nothing the Tories. But oh no. All bets are off -
Thanks all. I made the mistake of thanking people who found him on the local Facebook group for my area. Cue neighbour opposite who stated that I was bad owner for leaving the cats out overnight and for leaving them in the care of neighbours when I went away recently. Trust me, revenge will be served on that bitch. I'll bide my time but I'll have her. All she does is stand in her doorway smoking in a dressing gown all fucking day.

Some b****ard knocked over my 1 year old cat - Iolo this morning. Luckily he was microchip so it was easy to let me know but I'm so angry the driver didn't stop and give him a chance. He died sadly. My poor little boy. I need alcohol.

General Election 2024?

When the Conservative Party are saying anything under 20k majority is lost and efforts must be refocused on constituency with a larger majority, you know the game is up. Meanwhile my social media with my friends in Moor View show the serious disquiet in Mercers actions. I get the feeling he had the call saying all is lost and this smear was the final desperate roll of the dice. Edit - not even 8am and Mercer has lost it. -

Yup. What makes its all the worse is Fred Thomas is bound not to say what he was doing as its bound by offical secrets act. That's Mercer gone. It's despicable last ditch ploy for votes. I hope he's called out on it. -

Things seem to be turning dirty in Plymouth Moor View. Hustling was abandoned last night and Johnny Mercer all over it on X. There's a measured silence from Fred Thomas. I get we're a miliary city with the Dockyard the Marine barracks, but that's all in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport not Moor View so this forces angle doesn't apply to the majority of the voters. Even nearby Torridge and Tavistock has Bickleigh barracks but no miliary talk there. -

Rishi literally dragged to pieces in the Question Time debate. The response to ECHR was met with loud booing even over the credits. What has to be most worrying- debate took place in York. Rishi is MP close by. He has to be in danger surely. -

Another day on the road yesterday, and whilst there were a few more Tory posters on the A379 in South Devon constituency, by the time you hit Dawlish and Teignmouth- sea of yellow. Driving to football training in Moor View, 2 signs on the main road saying vote for Mercer (not mention of what party obviously). But drive the Budshead ward behind his placards and nearly every window has a red poster in it. -

That's a surprise- having lived in the High Peak - the area around Glossop is a known Labour stronghold but is certainly more blue as you head out to Whalley, Chapel en Le Frith and Buxton. Rishi was in Torridge yesterday- a 25k majority normally but clearly they're worried. Anyone under 20k is pretty well nailed on to go two weeks tonight. -

I'd be stunned if Torridge and Tavi goes Reform. It's more likely to go Lib Dem IMHO. South Devon is turning into a sea of yellow on the road yesterday. Remarkable to see. There's posters everywhere saying "after 100 years time for a change from tories" as you drive into Kingsbridge. -

19% Tory to 17% Reform. If that switches over... watch the total and absolute fur fly from Conservatives. I can see Rishi being replaced in sheer panic. -

Quite the interview on Jeremy Vine. Severely ill, but more concerned for carers and his wife. Worth a listen, he's very breathless with lung disease. Sounds pretty sad and he won't ever leave home alive again. -

Spent the day working out in the South Hams - and in the old Totnes seat, now South Devon. It's a Tory heartland by history. Literally every village, corner is plastered with the Lib Dem diamond posters, stakes. I saw 1 Tory banner in Totnes (which is nominally Green by cllr now) but the change is very clear and very yellow! -

Beginning to think they only way for things to improve for Tories would be literally for them to do and say nothing. They've a worse case of Foot and Mouth than in 2001...
