Up to her forehead with more Polyfilla than a Swiss idiot trying to fill holes in cheese. In fact the cheese is more natural.

    Queen Elizabeth II

I agree- the lady who has done immeasurable good for the UK has in my honest option earned a fortnights rest. She has had a little bit of light relief during Covid but with the advent of Online meetings she can take the rest needed and appear when needed. She’s a good few years in her yet I think going by the Queen Mum and I think we need to remember the Queen Mum like Philip wasn’t in the best of health the last few years. Yes we’ll see more from Charles, Anne and Edward in the years to come along with William but that’s not to read into anything.

More interesting in death than his character was in life. It’s why he wasn’t in the Fire episode in Nov 1981- he’d have gone up like the rest of the set did..

    Very Blue Peter

He’s best remembered as the one doing the piece on door knockers for Durham Cathedral from memory. Simon Groom got the punchline we all remember…..

    The World of the Snowflake

Perhaps related but clearly snowflake based Uncle Bens rice ( you know the one with the black man on the packaging) is now just Bens Rice and no black person in sight.

Funny George and Mildred gets a mention of Avril Elgar was done on Twitter as having died yesterday. But Wiki has her still going at 89. To be fair- this is a fan of Yootha Joyce and a pretty extreme one at that! Edit- not just this Twitter confirming it now. She was Mildred sister Ethel in G and M. No qualify obit yet.

Whose death will actually break your heart?

And he flipped. Some of his early Lily Savage he ripped seriously into Cilla. Perhaps the free holidays to Barbados changed his mind.

Whose death will actually break your heart?

Personally I have to say Dionne Warwick. Not just because she’s a legend on Twitter which she plays very very well- but she’s also my Dads and mine favourite singer. I know the Bee Gees gave her her biggest hit in the UK Heartbreaker, but it my favourite song of all time. Add in talking about "that Liverpool woman""If I had coughed on 'Anyone Who Had a Heart,' Cilla would have coughed, too," she said. "I never forgave her for that."- 50 years in the business and Dionne held a major dislike of Cilla Black... well placed in my opinion. Betty White is going to be a tough one- the last Golden Girl and I think that’ll be a DVD marathon weekend when she does go. Reminds me off my late Nan so when you think she died in 1988 for Betty still to be standing is some going.

    The 8th death of 2021

Crazy to think we’re on the cusp of the longest drought since the early years. Still hopeful we’ll get to 11 or 12 but equally hope the record goes in the next day or so

Head colds/man flu. Nothing unusual- except…. This is the 1st one for nearly 2 years. Jan 2020 was the last one. And yup it’s pretty grim heading towards my chest. Only upside was coughing in the chemist getting some powders. That cleared the queue pretty quickly. I’d done a flow test (negative) and I’ve had COVID (knee it was a cold anyway as COVID floored me immediately) but if Brenda with no mask wants to run away quicker from the till than Usain Bolt I ain’t grumbling

    General Non School Massacre Thread

As a fellow Plymouthian- it’s been a dreadful 36 hrs here. Whilst we here aren’t afraid of death this event has been off the scale. Keyham is predominately a working class part of the City and was built with Victorian terraced houses for Dockyard workers. It’s home to HMS Drake as well. The street and park were created from the old railway line back in the 80s and is probably the newest street in the area. The first we knew something bad was happening at work was call from CCTV advising us to stay in or get back to bases ASAP. Then we were told if safe to do so, to drive immediately home. In the meantime, Drakes Circus the shopping centre was closed as they thought another gunman was in the area- then Stonehouse pubs was told to close for same reason. Only when home did we learn of the full horror. I’ll give both BBC Spotlight , BBC Radio Devon and ITV Westcountry with the local paper Herald, the due diligence. No rumours, just facts . Social media in the City however gave the name of the killer hours before, and as for Twatter- Jess have I had to stop myself going for some on there. Plymouth whilst being a City is like a collection of villages and we all know people all over. Thank fucking god he killed him self as the next row of shops in Henderson Place is a bookies, a charity shop and Lidl’s so would have been really busy. What’s the worst is the cunt ( and I make no apology for using that word) killed a 3 year old girl and her Dad. That’s horrendous and that’s what’s shocked us probably the worst but nobody should have died Thursday night. Correctly we remember the victims- he will rot in his hell. It’s our darkest hour since the Blitz in 1941, but we’ll come together, rebuild lives and remember those sad 5 lives cruelly ended.

I don't know if it was reported, but back a few months ago it was placed on the various FB groups that Jane Rossington (Jill) in Crossroads was in a nursing home. The said message was removed PDQ, but the thought is there. Ironically it turns out Crossroads has been an unexpected surprise hit on Britbox - getting enormous viewings. It was that news that I remembered about Jane.

At What Age Should One Retire?

As a local government officer- at 55 I can claim part of my pension and drop down to part time. Unless you've done more years than you're claiming (about 20 is the current limit) then I'll have to wait until I'm 60. Its a shit system designed to keep me in full time as I'm on 17 years and by 55 if I'm still going I'll be on 25/26 years.

Local Facebook groups. You know the ones. When electric board has been marking pavements for works "Linda" or "Shaz Ilovebaz" comment that it's either demonic forces at work. Or dog kidnappers. The area you live in depends on the quality of anger in said groups. If council- be prepared for dog kidnapping, fires with "cloud" light fittings causing major improvements to B and M decorated homes, and announcements of affairs "he's left so I'm having a Bonfire at 6pm of his fake Boss shirts" followed by "PM Hun?!" If Posh- it'll be traffic calming needed in the quietest country lane or random photos of crisp packets saying "this used to be a nice neighbourhood" If nothing else- these groups are good for a laugh on a dark day but some people shouldn't be allowed the Internet....

    Dying Off The Radar

My first post as my last user name wouldn't let me back in. On the Crossroads Appreciation Society Facebook group, it appears the actor David Moran who played the gormless garage mechanic Kevin Banks in the late 70s early 80s has died off the radar. Must be true as its come from fellow actor Angela Webb was played Iris Scott. No reason or where yet. Kevin married the hapless Glenda Brownlow, had an affair before having a downs baby and moving to Canada.
