After Kane Tanaka's death, Irene Dunham enters the Top 10 oldest living people. She survived the Bath School Bombing of 1927, because on that day she was ill and hadn't gone to the school.

Lucile Randon seems frailer now, but it's great that she can still give interviews with such lucidity at 118+.

There is a possibility that she was born in December 1902 according to the biography book written by her son when she was 107.

Since 2017 the WOLP was from Japan (Nabi Tajima, Chiyo Miyako, Kane Tanaka). Now we have a French WOLP. I wonder when could a Japanese person take this title again... Apparently there are quite a lot non-Japanese strong possible future candidates (Juniewicz, Morera, Benegas, Rojas, Ceccarelli ), while the Japanese 114+ supercentenarians seem very frail or their status is unknown (not a good sign). Of course we have seen frail supercentenarians from Japan getting the WOLP title, but I think that still a stronger supercentenarian has better chances.

My opinion is that Fusa Tatsumi looks frailer than how Kane Tanaka looked at 115, but she probably looks better than Nabi Tajima.

@arghton There is also Matsu Gaja, OLP of Okinawa since March 2021 (b. February 1908).

I don't think they are even now fully comparable with Calment and Knauss. I mean, Kane Tanaka has almost exactly the same age with Sarah Knauss, while she is more than 3 years younger than Calment. So she is not (for now) the "Calment of 2020s", and probably not even "Knauss of 2020s", if you compare ages of the top 10 oldest in 1999 vs ages of the top 10 oldest in 2022, life expectancy in 1999 vs life expectancy in 2022 etc.

Kane Tanaka became the second oldest person ever! (Taking into account leap years)

Having lived for 43,559 days, Kane Tanaka is now just one day away from tying Sarah Knauss in number of total days lived.

She is now actually only 5 days away from surpassing Sarah Knauss in number of total days lived (due to leap years).

Kane Tanaka is now only a week away from Knauss' age...

Edie Ceccarelli was validated. She is 114 years and 41 days. A photo from her 114th birthday shows that she is still able to walk with a walker.

Yeah. Also remember that Knauss was in (seemingly) better condition than Kane, but suddenly dropped dead. Of course, Kane can actually have a stronger organism than Knauss, despite frailer appearance, tremor etc.

Actually, as Kane keeps going and going and growing older Calment's age seems less unrealistic. It seemed very unrealistic when strong WOLPs were falling dead one after another without achieving to reach a 118th birthday.

Kane Tanaka is now only 30 days younger than Sarah Knauss..

Looks healthy for 115, she could become WOLP in the future. There is also a fairly big age gap between her and Tekla Juniewicz.

Kahoru also seems to be in better condition than most Japanese Supercentenarians who are frail. At 113 she could still walk a little. At 112 she had said that she wants to live longer. She reportedly did gymnastics, and she could use the toilet by herself. Even after 100 she grew vegetables in the fields.

There is also Matsu Gaja (reported as oldest living person in Okinawa) who is still not officially validated, and was born in February 1908.

Surprisingly it was the younger two of this top 4 who didn't make it.
