Greta van Fleet? The band name was created when Kyle Hauck heard a relative mention Gretna Van Fleet, a resident of Frankenmuth; their use of the variation on her name was done with her (subsequent) blessing.[11][12] Van Fleet also stated in a later interview that while the band's music is not her type, she supports the band and thinks they are very talented.[13][14]

One of the reasons I didn't want to re-listen to the songs that I only vaguely remembered sucking was fear of them earworming into me. KC is off the list but has succeeded of living on in my brain.

There was an episode of the American show Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix last year devoted to Dupont de Ligonnes, not sure if you have access to it.
-
One of his last tweets:
-
I'll miss David Crosby talking crap about other people.
-
Well, his performance made me laugh, which saved him from being downvoted this round, because Eddy Grant bored me and that's a worse offense.
-
Just relistened to them all; that KC & the Sunshine Band top of the pops performance was quite remarkable and not in a good way. 53 Kraftwerk – The Model / Computer Love 51 Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart 49 Madness – House of fun 44 Men at Work – Down Under 40 The Jam – Town called Malice +4 32 David Bowie – Let's Dance 28 Eddy Grant – I Don't Wanna Dance -6 28 Duran Duran – Is There Something I Should Know? 26 Flying Pickets - Only You 23 Culture Club – Do you really want to hurt me? 21 The Police – Every breath you take 19 Irene Cara — Fame 18 KC & the Sunshine Band - Give It Up 15 Spandau Ballet – True

50 The Jam – A town called Malice +4 49 Kraftwerk – The Model / Computer Love 43 Madness – House of fun 43 Men at Work - Down Under 42 Eddy Grant - I Don't Wanna Dance 40 Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart 36 Flying Pickets - Only You 34 David Bowie – Let's Dance -1 31 Culture Club – Do you really want to hurt me? 30 Duran Duran – Is There Something I Should Know? 29 KC & the Sunshine Band – Give it up 25 Spandau Ballet – True 22 Irene Cara — Fame 23 The Police – Every breath you take 4 Phil Collins – You can´t hurry love 0 Paul Young – Wherever I lay my hat (that's my home) -5 I just listened to the Paul Young track: didn't hate it, but it's kinda tedious, and I cannot imagine a circumstance where I will hear that song ever again. So it had to go. I like Bowie but he didn't even like that song: If David Bowie had one regret about the 1980s, it would have been recording “Let's Dance.” He enjoyed the success that all his other music gave him, but he didn't like what that one tune and its accompanying album did to his image and his career.

I lived in London briefly (Summer 2009 so I was there for Michael Jackson's death), but didn't know this snack brand! Our well-known one is Oreida (as potatoes are grown in Oregon/Idaho).

Interesting; I didn't realize McCain wouldn't be known internationally. They are all household names in America, and their deaths were all headlines. I specifically remember the minute McCain's death was announced because we received breaking news alerts on our phones. A week after his brain cancer diagnosis, he was the lone GOP vote to save our health insurance. Had he died sooner, we would have lost our health insurance. Aretha's songs are ofcourse legendary, but if she had died the year before or a year later, it wouldn't have impacted her song output. So I just feel that the specific timing of McCain's death had a direct impact on many Americans' mortality. Edit: Misspoke about McCain being the lone GOP vote; Collins and Murkowski also contributed.

Who killed Amber Hagerman? The internationally used Amber Alert system is named after her. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amber_alert#Namesake I lived in the same town and was close in age to her when she was kidnapped and murdered. It was the case that changed how we played outside, because prior to that we would ride bikes and play in the creeks without adult supervision. Also, there's the curiosity if it was someone you'd crossed paths with yourself.

I agree. All three are legends, but McCain had a current significant role in America.

First Celebrity Death You Remember

John Candy probably? My parents watched his movies over and over again, and the concept of movies coming out posthumously struck me as eerie. I was 9. -
I just tried to look it up on google maps, but they don't seem to acknowledge its existence. I believe it's the strip of street in front of the Michael Bivins basketball court (another New Edition member). Donna Summer got a street named after her last summer, but surprisingly New Kids on the Block don't have one yet.
-
They're from Boston, so I still hear them and all their offshoots (Bell Biv Devoe, Bobby Brown, etc.) regularly. A couple summers ago, the city renamed a street to Bobby Brown Way.

Parliament is equivalent to being in the House, which you can serve starting at 25, or the Senate which is 30. Then there's many states that let you sit in their legislature at age 18. The Presidency is supposed to be the pinnacle of a career, and oftentimes the person has a law degree and won elections so knows how to maneuver Congress, manage a state, and/or worked in international affairs. I don't have a negative opinion of younger people: I think we should lower our voting age to 16. I don't see how someone would crunch in that amount of experience to be President though under 35. Buttigieg was the youngest viable candidate I can think of, and he was 38 when he ran and was given the Secretary of Transportation position to gain more work experience.
-
What would be the purpose of lowering the age to 30? I can't think of anyone below 35 who has enough work experience for the role. It's an arduous process to amend the Constitution so doesn't seem worth it. I agree with a competency test. But also I think a civics test should be administered for Presidency, House, and Senate. Senator Tuberville doesn't even know the three branches of government (his job prior was being a football coach, and there is an unfortunate precedent of hiring sports coaches to teach civics to teenagers which needs to stop).

A lot of them are scared of the backlash, like they played hot potato with ending the Afghanistan War because they knew the press would be dicks about it (the press literally had Dick Cheney on every night to tell us what Biden could have done better... just lol). Biden doesn't have to worry about post-Presidency as much in that regard.

thanks! i'm on my first coffee and forgot to math.
