Yikes! Her daughter hated him and fought him for years, but no one could have expected Francesca would predecease her mother.

I think people are expecting Joanne to go this year because she’s the same age as Barbara Walters and Irene Papas when they died, and those two also had dementia for a while. It’s hard to picture her around next year, but we’ll see. Regarding Zsa Zsa, I think the only reason she lasted so long was because her mother lived to 100. She was literally carried by her mother’s genetics.

I agree, although I do wonder how long Ros will last without him. She’ll be 96 in August. HW Bush passed away seven months after Barbara.

With Dame Angela and Marsha Hunt gone, Ann Blyth is arguably the last 1940s “star”, and even she wasn’t as big as Angela. Janis Paige is debatable; definitely well-known but not a star. More like a character actress.

In the HBO Max documentary on Newman and Woodward from last summer, their family said Woodward was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/dementia in 2007, a year before Newman’s death. So the fact that she is still alive 16 years later is pretty surprising. I would have guessed she wouldn’t have made it past 90.
