I’m a little surprised about Furneaux and Presle, but the likes of Balenda and Strook were not major players at all, especially compared to Barbara Rush and Janis Paige. What hurt the two Frenchwoman was always being in the shadow of better-known Michele Morgan and Danielle Darrieux. Anne Vernon and Genevieve Page might run into this same problem when they go. With all due respect to Gena, they really should have ended with Dame Maggie.

Next year will be an avalanche of female hits: Woodward, Scales, Marcos, Redgrave, Laine, Flack.

It says buried in Birmingham, not born there. She was born in California.

Are Robert Wagner, Russ Tamblyn, and Pat Boone the last leading men from the 50s?

Jeannie Carson’s death has been added to IMDB. Will she ever get an obituary?

I would replace Robert Wagner with Joan Plowright.

Mother of the woman who shot J.R. Ewing.

James Earl Jones really should have been on the list.

This makes sense, because public records say 1928.

There seems to be confusion over Ann Blyth’s age; IMDB says 1927, Wiki says 1928.

Is Vera Miles about to be 95 or 94? Wiki and IMDB say the former, public records say the latter…

Eva Marie Saint is now the oldest movie star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

1970s sitcom writer Bob Ellison has apparently died at 91, says fellow writer Ken Levine on his podcast. Ellison won two Emmys, including one for co-writing the last episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1977. He also wrote for that series’s spin-offs Rhoda and Phyllis. https://art19.com/shows/hollywood-and-levine/episodes/d03a4f7b-a027-4c14-9539-d1f9ddf99f13 https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0255162/

He must be very mentally sharp to still be alive despite being so physically frail. Roz looked better than he did when they were photographed in the car on his birthday.

We officially have our new Betty/Benedict.

Going by motion picture stars, it’s Janis Paige, followed by Eva Marie Saint. For television, June Lockhart and Dick Van Dyke are the oldest, following Norman Lear’s death.

Was the last living acting Oscar nominee of 1955 (first year of that decade with no survivors left). Outlived her twin Pier Angeli by 52 years.

From the early 50s, yes. From the latter half there’s Don Murray, Earl Holliman, Russ Tamblyn and Eastwood. Tamblyn, Ann Blyth, Leslie Caron, and Shirley MacLaine are probably the last MGM stars from the 50s, aka the Post-Mayer era.

I forgot about Lady Pamela Hicks, now 94 and the last surviving adult bridesmaid from her wedding. Princess Alexandra was 10 at the time.
-
Was she the late Queen’s last living friend from her youth? Lady Myra Butter died last year and Lady Rupert Nevill passed in January.

Who would have thought that Bess Truman’s record would still hold after 41 years. Lady Bird, Betty, Nancy, Barbara and Rosalyn all came close though. Laura’s now the oldest, Hillary the earliest-serving and last First Lady of the 20th century.

She’ll go first.

Her husband of 70 years died on New Years at 97. Not bad for a marriage that started in Joan Crawford’s living room.

Her death leaves only six remaining nominees from the AFI Greatest Female Stars list: Ann Blyth, Claire Bloom, Mitzi Gaynor, Rita Moreno, Sophia Loren and Margaret O’Brien. Loren was the only one who made the Top 25.
