It’s the same with people taken hostage in dangerous countries. They go against their government advices, and it’s their government who pay the ransom (or sometime send soldiers who are killed in the process) to free them. I don’t know about UK but here in France we had several cases these past years, with people taken hostages in Mali or in the area.

He broke 3 times (1995,1997 and 1998) the World record, and the last time it lasted 6 years until it was beaten by fellow countryman Kenenisa Bekele. In marathon he broke Kenyan Paul Tergat’s world record in 2007, becoming the second (and to date the last) after the latter to have held the World Record in both Marathon and 10.000 metres. His WR in marathon was beaten 4 years later by Kenyan Patrick Makau.
