Moroccan Abderrahim Ouakili, who participated in the 1998 WC, has died aged 53. He was an unused substitute as Morocco was eliminated in the group stage. Actually his last cap was a friendly game against Chile in France just before the start of the WC.

Cuban light middleweight boxer Rolando Garbey, Silver medalist in 1968 and Bronze Medalist in 1976, has died aged 76. Garbey and Enrique Regueiferos (in light welterweight) were the first medalist for Cuba in Boxing. He also competed in the 1972 Games but lost in quarterfinals. In 1974, he became the first light middleweight World Champion in the inaugural tournament.

British swimmer Margaret Linton, unused substitute at the 1948 Games in the 4x100 relay but who competed in the same event in 1952, has died on 19 November aged 94.

Well, this isn’t my work. I saw the info yesterday on Oldest Olympian facebook. They do say "he later served in the US Air Force" and they provide a link to back that up.

American rower Dick Murphy, Olympic Champion at the 1952 Games, died on 8 August aged 91.

Japanese volleyball player Yasuhiro Noguchi, Olympic Champion at the 1972 Games, has died aged 77.

Italian cyclist Sante Gaiardoni, two times Olympic Champion (1000 m time trial and sprint) at the 1960 games in home soil, has died aged 84.

German Rolf Geiger, who notably scored VFB Stuttgart’s first goal in Bundesliga in 1963, has died aged 89. With Stuttgart, he won the 1958 DFB Pokal (German Cup). Capped 8 times with West Germany, he was selected in the Unified Team of Germany for the 1958 Olympics and played their only game in the tournament, a 2-1 defeat against USSR.

This kinda reminds me of Anne Buydens and Kirk Douglas. She looked terrible and was in a wheelchair at his funeral, but she outlived Kirk for a year. So maybe Jimmy will make it to 100 years old.

Olga Sicnerova the last known Czechoslovakian Olympian from 1948, has died off the radar on 21 August 2021 aged 93. The page does talk about Olga Oldrichova, but it’s her married name.

I could say the same thing about Black men and progressives, that some people talk about this to make some Black men angry, because they need Black men to stay competitive politically.

He was the earliest surviving Fijian Olympian. He outlived his 5 countrymates from the 1956 Games, his only teammate from 1960, and the only 1968 Fijian Olympian. Fiji didn’t send athletes in 1964.

He was the last known* Filipino Olympian from the 1952 Games and the earliest known surviving Filipino Olympian. * Felix Cortes (born 1907), Pedro Landero (1913) and Martin Gison (1914) have no death dates, but are surely dead. Vicente Tunacao (1925) is off the radar and doesn’t appear on Oldest Olympian living nonagerians list.
