Kris Boyd was born in Irvine 40 years ago, he is a footballer that Wikipedia in Portuguese says he is the highest scorer in the Scottish Premier League, but I don't know if this information is up to date

This is true. But the Scottish Premier League only existed for 15 years, from the 1998 to 2013. So he is not Scottish First Tier top goalscorer ever. I think it’s Jimmy McGrory.

Slightly above average ? The man is Brazil’s joint-top goalscorer along with Pelé. I’m not saying he is equal of Pelé, and I’m a PSG fan so he was mostly a disappointment, but saying he is « slightly above average » is exaggerated.

  4. On this day 50 years ago, Spanish football manager Jose Villalonga died aged only 53.
He was both the first and shortest lived UEFA European Championship and Champions League winning manager to die.

As for all UEFA club competitions, he was also the first to die, but the second shortest lived, as Cup Winner’s Cup winning manager Hans Kron died at only 48.

He was the first manager to win the UEFA Champions League (at the time European Cup), with Real Madrid in 1956, and also the first (out of 10) to retain his title (in 1957 with Real Madrid) and the first (out of 20) to win the competition more than once.

He won the Cup Winner’s Cup with Atletico Madrid in 1962, became the first manager to win two different UEFA club competitions.

He won the 1964 UEFA European Championship with Spain, becoming the first (out of 4) manager to win both UEFA Clubs and Nations competitions

  5. Dutch football player Robin Van Persie is 40 today.
He scored a record 50 goals for Netherlands. Since 11 October 2013, he is Netherlands top goalscorer, having broken Kluivert record of 40 goals.

He was English first tier top scorer 2 times consecutively (2012 and 2013) with 2 different clubs (Arsenal and Manchester United), a feat only achieved by Gary Lineker (1985 Leicester and 1986 Everton) and Alan Shearer (1995 and 1996 with Blackburn and 1997 with Newcastle).

  6. On this day 100 years ago, US President Warren G Harding died in office from a heart attack, he was 57. He’s one of the six presidents to die before turning 60, the last one being Kennedy.

He was the first president to be outlived by his father, the second and last one being JFK, who was survived by both his parents.

Also, he was the first president not to die in the Eastern part of USA. Since then, Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and GHW Bush have died in Texas; Harry Truman in Missouri; and Reagan and Ford in California.

Mariano Díaz Mejía is a footballer who played for Barcelona and Real Madrid, he was born 30 years ago in Premià de Mar (ESP)

Are you sure he played for Barcelona ? He was born and raised in Catalonia, but I’m pretty sure he never played for Barcelona ?!?

He got one cap for Dominican Republic in 2013. When he went to Lyon in 2016 he became the first (and only to date) player from that country in Ligue 1. By scoring 18 goals in his only season, he became the top goalscorer from CONCACAF in Ligue 1.
