Not that Wikipedia is trustworthy but this page lists him as dead. Also a few other headlines come up when I searched for him, none of which however had any relevance

I'm not an American, but McCain isn't as well known at all in comparison to people like Stephen Hawking or Aretha Franklin amongst the people I know. Some of the people I know are totally out of the loop, but Hawking is without a doubt more known than McCain outside of America. For Franklin, I'm not sure.

I vaguely remember my father being sad upset shocked notably disappointed when Stanley Kubrick died. I thought 71 at the time was an old age and I remember Douglas Adams being a big deal in my house at the time. I also remember the queen mother, Joe Strummer, Johnny Cash and one that upset me at the time was Fred Rogers. -
English novelist and poet Rudyard Kipling died this day 87 years ago in 1936, at the age of 70 from a perforated duodenal ulcer. Kipling was born in British India, and was known for writing books such as Just So Stories and the Jungle Book series.

French-born American essayist and writer Anaïs Nin died this day 46 years ago in 1977 at the age of 73 from cervical cancer. She wrote journals from the age of 11 until her death in 1977.
