    Mike Edwards "A founding member of the band the Electric Light Orchestra was killed when a giant bale of hay tumbled down a hill and crashed onto his van in the UK. Cellist Mike Edwards died after the 600kg bale rolled out of a steep Devonshire field, smashed through a hedge and onto the road" He was killed on the third day of September. That came out of the blue! Should we add him to the roll over bale toll, then?

    Woman gets stuck in chimney trying to enter the home of her boyfriend "A woman who attempted to sneak into her lover's home by sliding down the chimney was found dead in the flue. Dr Jacquelyn Kotarac's decomposing body was discovered three days later after smells came from the fireplace. The 49-year-old had apparently failed to get into the man's house through the door before she climbed on to the roof. She removed the chimney cap and slid down feet first. Her lover is said to have already left to avoid a confrontation."

"Glenconner's connection with Mustique ended acrimoniously in 1987 when, almost bankrupted by building the infrastructure of the island (including the airport), he sold his remaining share to other homeowners. A year later he walked away with just £1million, having sold his home, the Great House, to Christina Onassis's third husband, former KGB agent Sergei Kauzov"

    Nancy Dolman The wife of actor Martin Short, herself an actress who appeared most notably in "Soap", has died aged 58. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.

    Mac Tontoh Trumpeter and founder member of Ghanaian-Caribbean popsters Osibisa, one of the first African bands to experience UK chart success, has died. He can be seen (he'll be the one with the horns!) as they perform their signature hit "Sunshine Day". Smiling keyboard player and one time millionaire Kiki Djan died in tragic and impoverished circumstances in 2004, discovered there by his own sister and Tontoh in a church toliet having suffered for years with drug-related illnesses and Aids.

    Jack Parnell The jazz drummer, TV theme-tune writer and bandleader, who was musical director for "The Muppet Show" has died aged 87. Today's fact from Wikipedia: Parnell's son Ric, also a drummer, played the part of Mick Shrimpton in "This is Spinal Tap". Shrimpton was one of the numerous former "Tap" drummers who met various untimely deaths, in his case an on-stage explosion during their Japanese tour.
