A happy New Year to all! Here's the new Near Misses thread for this year.
-
Windsor, since you clearly hate everyone, it follows that you hate Jews too. You anti-semitic bastard, you!
-
What she said. Manners enough for you?
-
Might have made a difference to Edwina Currie. You know what they say.

Well done Hein. I like the new suit by the way. Is there some way you could dispose of Ms. deWinter as well. She is a complete F*****g pain in the arse with a gob on her like the Mersey Tunnel.

Sometimes it pays to take risks, if that risk can come of something better. Banshees, I get the feeling that even when you aren't specially trying to talk in riddles, your remarks have a certain unusual enigmatic quality.

Godot, am I right in believing you work in the fianantial sector?

*p**y b*r*****y *****! -
You gave us to understand that you had no mates at all, Mr. Godot. (present company excepted) What's this all about?
-
This capital little exchange is quite nice and worthy of honourable mention.

I met Genscher at a charity do earlier this year. He's fine. I wouldn't go putting him on any lists just yet.

Hi Bou! Happy Birthday! -
This may be of some help. Doubt if she was a witness at that trial though.
-
Not so sure... Wrongipedia says that that Helen Gardner was born in 1908 and they seem to have different occupations. Either way, not worth the risk of picking her I'd think. Well according to the same source, that is the same lady who was a witness at the Lady Chatterley trial. It'd be more likely for a literary critic to do that than the Chief Clerk of Buck Pal. So if they are two different people, the DDP people have got them confused too.
-
According to this, Dame Helen Gardner died in 1986. The name is spelled differently (twice in the same article), but it seems to be the same ex-old lady.

There are plenty of alternative treatments for cancer many of which are considered by some to be just as effective/ineffective as the standard therapies. I'd be surprised if she wasn't giving something a go.
-
So do I, I think. Was that the one where he went somewhere to recruit some ghosts and there was a WW1 soldier asleep on a bench?
-
I've edited the topic title a bit. It'd take an admin to set up the swear filter to change the name to something else. Like was done with Ma><ine. Doesn't work retrospectively though, as far as I know.

Tempus, an emotive point of view does have a basis in logic. If I had more time, I'd go into it, but it's obvious really. On a different note, don't think Ali's competitive thingy quite hits the DL ethos nail on the head but each to his own I suppose. Friends? Well some of us are, some aren't. It isn't obligatory.

Happy Birthday Monsieur L! Here's a nice colourful cake for you which I have carefully hollowed out and filled with gin. Hope you like it. -
Sounds like one for the HDP. Let's say if anyone selects him for the HDP, and he dies by hanging, there will be an awful lot of points awarded. Otherwise probably not.

Please do us the liberty of at least spelling the basic vocabulary word they correctly... Weatherman, hoggie is being sarcastic. Or is it ironic?. Anyway, everyone but you seems to have understood it. Weatherman90. What would we do without him?

Surely you mean Association Football. Soccer is naught but an uncomely foreign expression, shunned with vigour by the decent and civilised.
