Right oh, the old scoreboard is updated to include Ivor Cutler and Profumo's deaths. (Subject to potential revision on confirmation of Cutler's alleged drumming activities.) The emails will go out at the weekend, probably. Things are getting hot at the top end of the old scoreboard. Football Fan had better keep his socks pulled up.
-
Oh, I missed that! Send me a link, and I'll update the scoreboard accordingly. That'd be another 4 points.
-
Congratulations Widows XP! 20 points I think unless anyone can prove he's been in a panto. I'm out of town for a couple of days, so don't hold your breaths waiting for the scoreboard to be updated.

Sorry to get on your case again Godot, but I think (and Mrs. N agrees) that Goulash counts as gravy. Another 10% all right?

Funny that, isn't it, that so many interesting and popular posters of quality banter seem to have upped and jumped ship recently? Can't think why.

The Unwritten Rules...argue About Them Here
Tuber Mirum replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Dunno what this is all about but I know a split infinitive when I see one. Should that merit a warning? That isn't a spilt infinitive Godot. "Been tirelessly working" can't be a split infinitive, for the simple reason that it isn't an infinitive. It is a past tense of some sort. "To tirelessly work" (or "to boldly go") would be a split infinitive, but according to Fowler, it's permissible if the alternative, "to work tirelessly" sounds too clumsy. Which it doesn't. So it isn't. This is the true stuff of deathlist.net. Everything else is a deluge of crap. -
The Unwritten Rules...argue About Them Here
Tuber Mirum replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Nobody should think for a minute that just because not much is yet being done against it, the management is happy with the deluge of crap which has recently engulfed the Deathlist. Also, it is complete, utter and absolute nonsense to assume that if someone registers, they understand and are prepared to abide by the rules. A lot of people definitely don't understand the unwritten rules, but are getting away with it for the time being. But that may change soon. -

Guests, A Deathlist Enhancement, Or Detriment?
Tuber Mirum replied to Tempus Fugit's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Yes. There are idiot guests and idiot registered members. It makes no difference really. We should allow guests but forbid idiots. -
Pavarotti is 70 I believe and can no longer sing. He announced his retirement and then embarked on a world tour which appears to be going to last for several years and is sold out. I'm told he sang at the opening of the Winter Olympics. Or at least mimed to a recording which he made about 20 years ago when he could still sing. Who knows?

I am thoroughly and truly sick of Qualtoo. He is a nobody who, as far as I can tell, has done almost nothing on Wikipedia since he joined a few weeks ago except work against the Death List article. True, the fight was lost on our part to keep it in its own article, but the consensus was merge in full and thus Qualtoo is violating Wikipedia consensus, which means he can be reported, warned and, if necessary, stopped. He's very selective when responding to criticism, and I think I've made enough valid points to not want to waste my time arguing anymore. Meanwhile, I suggest we keep thinking (or act upon) ways of making Death List more notable. There were good suggestions a few pages back in the thread. Canadian Paul, do we really want Deathlist to be more notable? Do we really need a Wiki entry? The only thing heightened publicity seems to have brought us up to now is a flood of idiots hijacking our favourite threads. Has anyone asked the boss what he thinks? Doubt it. That said, Qualtoo is a complete jerk and needs sorting out. Is there a way of seeing the IP number of registered Wiki contributors? I haven't been able to work it out.

Your Least Impressive Celebrity Encounters
Tuber Mirum replied to Phantom's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Let me guess, that was at a book signing. regards, Hein Well yes it was, but it's not quite as simple as that, because my GF of the time worked in the shop so I did actually get to meet him. And I was the first to get my book signed. -

I once met Terry Pratchett. Got a photo of it somewhere. -
Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Mudslides
Tuber Mirum replied to Tempus Fugit's topic in DeathList Forum
Good rant, except for this bit. It's sentiments like that which start wars. How about wishing that she learns the error of her ways, becomes a better person and goes around helping those less fortunate than herself, the way you do, with such humility? -
John Kettley is a Weatherman. And so is Michael Fish.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries Etc...2006
Tuber Mirum replied to Tuber Mirum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
According to the calendar, it is the Yeti's birthday. As it was I who put it in there, I am presuming it must be true, even though he doesn't have a birthday in his profile. So, Mr Yeti, have a good one! -
Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2006

I've read the book. It's called "One Hit Wonderland" or something. I think the bet was to get in the top ten, or twenty but I can't really remember. Tim Rice was involved.

On the other hand, vacuous shallowness is neither obligatory nor desirable. Just 4 of Notapotato's postings from the last week. Vacuous? Shallow? Surely not. 'I've just been up Arthur's seat' 'I have just eaten fried pizza' 'It was ZaZA ' (name of the cat in Hector's House) 'I just got a Mr Benn video' Well it ain't Samuel Becket. Poppycock! Stuff and nonsense! At no time in the past week have I eaten fried pizza. Perhaps I should make that persistent vacuous shallowness. Learn the unwritten rules, respect them, then break them with a bit of style.

Such a senseless waste. Anyone else care to challenge the Established Order of Things?

I daresay an obstreperous child, chastised for dive-bombing adults on a Sunday afternoon while they're trying to read the (serious broadsheet) paper or make model aeroplanes or whatever also feels a bit wrongly done by.
