    Jane Tomlinson Killer Ride

Hi PT, good to have you on board! Now let's see what we can do about your little outburst: Well Purply, there's a semicolon missing from that sentence, and you make it sound like she wants to die, which is pretty unlikely, in spite of how much publicity that might get her. Good. It wouldn't be a proper rant without that bit. Another obligatory bit. Purply, the points are stacking up for you. No, she isn't going on the list. She is too obscure and wasn't famous at all before she became ill. Incidentally, in English a question has a question mark at the end. And "one's" has an apostrophe. Sick you said already. Too much repetition of "up" makes for a very ungainly style. Also, that sentence should actually be two sentences. Incidentally, we wouldn't bother trying to stop Ms. Tomlinson from running a marathon if that were what she wanted to do. A promising rant with many of the classic elements. Not bad for a first try. In order for it to be a real all-time humdinger though, you need to get your spelling and grammar down to the same low standard as your punctuation. Also there wasn't enough CAPITALISATION and no multiple exclamation marks.(!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 5 out of 10. Keep trying.

raider+Oct 16 2005, 09:20 PM--> QUOTE(Tom( raider @ Oct 16 2005, 09:20 PM) De Drie Gezusters is indeed a nice pub, if: -you're under 18 -you're desperate for a shag -all you want for a nice evening out is to drink a lot and make a fool of yourself. So yes, there's some nostalgia for me there... Looking back, I see my source didn't say de D.G. was "nice". "Famous" was the word he used. Some other time perhaps. Drinking a lot and making a fool of myself are too fresh in my memory for it to be nostalgic just yet. Going to Groningen on Friday with Mrs N. for a bit of research. Perhaps you know of somewhere better for a quick pint and a bite to eat later in the evening?

There's also a "Wankum" in Germany up near Kempen by the Dutch border which some people find amusing.

Whatever floats your boat, dear. I suppose that, given your obsession with death, it'd be a waste of time to suggest that you get a life. Hadn't thought of Windsor as a "boy in a boat" before.
  7. How intriguing. Any chance of some more concrete information? Pictures, etc,?

Well, apart from the "socio-" bit, you're more or less right. And regarding Blair, you're absolutely right.

What a shame someone had to spoil this little tete รก tete between Hein and Gloomy. But since the deed now is done I'd like to put my own oar in by offering the following from this webpage which I'm eternally grateful to Mr Josco for putting me onto. Comments, anyone?

    Margaret Thatcher

There is no doubt in my mind about it. Blair is 100 times worse than Margaret Thatcher. Thatcher was a "competent" politician who knew exactly and believed in what she was doing. The problem most right-thinking individuals had with her was that she wasn't aware of the terrible social implications of the ruthless way in which she sanitised the country. (Which had undeniably been well and truly f**ked up by her predecessors) It is in the nature of Conservative voters who weren't adversely effected not to consider the plight of the millions who were. Apparently that quip about "no society" was meant to say that people can't blame things on or expect anything from an abstract thing called "society" without realising that they are in fact themselves the society of which they speak. And that poll-tax business was just pure incompetence. Don't know what she was thinking of. A bad, bad woman indeed. Severely deluded, but probably not an unprincipled hypocrite like Blair. Blair on the other hand is just a puppet of the US, no different to Pinochet and his kind. I'm sure Mr Bush had a big hand in his election. Remember Mrs. T.? Waged a (slightly questionable) war of defence (against the wishes of the US) to protect the interests of a few British citizens nobody cared about really. Imagine if the Falklands got invaded tomorrow. Blair would crap his pants if he had to make a real decision like that. About all the paranoia surrounding ID cards, they are harmless actually if not abused. They have had them for decades in many European countries, and they are very useful things for identifying yourself. Here in Germany until recently, the police were allowed to shoot you if you were caught out of doors without one. The important point being, of course, that it never actually happened. (They shot Benno Ohnesorg, but that's another matter) But I wouldn't trust the UK government to implement an ID card scheme in a competent manner and not abuse the information at the first opportunity. It's clear as day what they're up to. There's quite a bit of truth in that "Lost Freedom" thingy, in my opinion. Thatcher = Bad Blair = Bad, Incompetent, Corrupt and Stupid. Not much of a defence for either of them, really.

Hey Brimley! Good to see ya! I was afeared those RoyalForums (sic) folks had put a stop to you once and for all. That or you'd turned coat and joined the enemy. Pop into my office later for a quick debriefing and after that we'll see about getting you your old cell back.

Watched "Groundhog Day" last night, strangely enough since someone has mentioned it today already. Anyway, there's a (fictitious) place in the film called "Gobbler's Knob".

Undoubtedly there is, but credit your DL colleagues with some intelligence, please. (OK, we are completely guttered a lot of the time but nonetheless, you do us a disservice Madam.)
  17. No, I realised I can't stand those buggers on Bad Astronomy. I deliberately put in a random password with my eyes closed so I can't post there. PS: Much better avatar, Weatherman90. keep it up.

Given the disproportionate preponderance of Scottish members, may I respectfully suggest the following change to the DeathList banner? Perhaps some shortbread would be quite good too.

    Deathlist Membership

Indeed. How's about a simple rule - if you don't post within say 90 days of registering your account is deleted? Guests can post so make it 30. Guests tend to make mad and insulting posts to deathlist members so we should restrict guests to a few topics to post in. Hmm, reminds me of that bus company a few years ago which announced the buses weren't going to stop to pick up passengers any more because it made it impossible to keep to the timetable. But why bother to delete inactive users? They do nobody any harm, and it gives the site a more "lived-in" appearance to the casual visitor when he sees that we have 621 members and not just 60 or however many actually post. We have to keep up with the Joneses. Oh no wait a minute, we are the Joneses. With TheRoyalForums (sic) then.

Weatherman, you need to get in touch with Mattd007. He lives in Vegas and is also a big fan. Pehaps you could go together?
