So, El Loco, are you the guardian of the Nazi party membership list? If not, you make pretty big omniscient claims. How can you say, one way or the other, that Max was either a member or not? Also, what makes it OK for you to make jokes about Germans? Did they bomb your chipshop? Whay can't we just all get along........... No, I'm not the guardian of the Nazi party membership list... but that's not the point. I wanted to express, that Max rejected the sick ideas of nazi regime. I understand he even saved the lifes of 2 jews and always remained a good friend of joe louis. So, to put in a nutshell I think he was a good guy... unfortunately germany didn't have more men like him that time. Speaking about making jokes about german: I'm german (at least 50%) and I see that other germans get mortally offended when british press media writes something like "Let's blitz the Krauts" for example. I simply think that's a pretty exaggerated reaction to a tiny side blow and shouldn't cause endless discussions. So stay cool. You might be interested in the following sites: Using the Altavista search engine, I came across the following: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/fight/peoplee..._schmeling.html This site holds a picture of Max Schmeling, Adoph Hitler and Eva Braun. Some interesting narrative about what Schmeling told the US press about Hitler’s Germany. Again, in Altavista, search for hitler + schmeling + photo The first site listed is “image search results for hitler schmeling”. Have a look in that site and there is a very pally photo of Herr Hitler and Herr Schmeling together. Whatever Max's supporters may say, it looked as though he stood up to Hitler (as well as sucked up to him too).

I think you'll find that no real thought or bother was taken in the health of Max Schmeling by these "guests" while he was alive. Perhaps it's some sort of Germanic catharsis to defend the honour of a fallen comrade, despite not knowing all of the facts.

Ignoring it.... This is rapidly becoming one of those "Don't mention the war" skits. regards, Hein (who mentioned it once, but thinks he got away with it) Hein, Yes, well he started it. Don't be so touchy and defensive. After all, it was a long time ago.

Thank you for stating the blindingly obvious. If you looked at what I was responding to, you'd see that it was the earlier contributor (which I quoted) that made the "uber-confident" statement that the late Max Schmelling was definately NOT a nazi. I merely questioned the veracity of that statement. As for Schindler, he was a wartime opportunist who was in a position to exploit the new "workforce" made available to him. Bear in mind that war crimes charges were brought against him because of his "activities". I do accept that his retention of some humanity meant that a number of jews were saved from execution.

How can you be throwing round big words like "compartmentalised", when all it means is putting people into boxes......oh, I get it.

Well, One Man Jury, you appear to have hit the nail on the head. As all SANE human beings know, Tupac was nothing more than a talentless, gun-toting thug, who in death (riddled with bullets) is now revered by idiots who don't have the brain capacity to understand they are being exploited by "the man". Despite evidence pointing to the contributors Tupac and Biggy (see earlier messages) as "pillow-biters", it is remotely possible they may not be gay. By the way, wasn't the quote from the late Bernard Bresslaw taken from Carry on - up the Khyber?

I totally agree. Ian Wright is trading on his ethnicity to carry him over into "entertainment". Have you ever seen anyone as uncomfortable and out of his/her depth in front of a TV camera. Lucky for him that his role in "They think it's all over" is completely scripted. No point asking Wenger for his opinion. All you'd get is "Aah deed not zee anyzing". In fact, let's hope they shuffle off this mortal coil together.

What with Tupac and ODB gone the way of the dodo, who are the yoofs going to look to as an appropriate role model, when they fall out of school with no education and get into mugging, shooting, raping etc?

I agree. Paisley is an out-dated, out of touch piece of trash. It's a pity he didn't make the deathlist in the early 60s (that way Paisley junior wouldn't be around to perpetuate his dad's poison. As for his own place in hell....I'm not sure Satan would be too happy with someone around who was even more evil.
