I am sure that I speak for many Northern Hemispherers when I say that we do not purposely ignore our cousins in the South, it's just that a lot of your DeathList candidates just don't come to our attention. Showing my ignorance, I had to look up Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen on the net, but I now feel much more informed about the Fitzgerald inquiry. DWB

Emlyn was interviewed during the Grand National coverage on tv last week. He had a horse running I think. Anyway, not too much about his cancer was said, although he did say that he was feeling OK at the moment. He didn't look too bad either. I think there is a bit more life left in the squeaky ex-footballer yet. DWB

What 'S' is a sudden loss of brain function?
Death Watch Beatle replied to Stayin Alive's topic in DeathList Forum
I did miss the mighty Holness, but thinking about Blockbusters I still get a laugh out of "Can I have a P please Bob". Perhaps Bob now says: "Can I have a pee please nurse"? DWB -
I think somebody in the know should give us an update on the wellbeing of Frankie Laine. He has got to be looking over his shoulder at the moment considering numbers 17, 18 and 20 on the list have pegged out very recently. You wouldn't want to be in the middle of that lot would you? DWB

Did you miss me Bee-Gee? Ain't it typical - you go away for a few days and you come back to find DeathList has scored a hatrick. This happens to me during footy on tv as well - a quick bladder evacuation and the games all but over - let's hope the DeathList doesn't take it's foot off the pedal! DWB -
Hurrah! Break out the Bolly! DWB (None of the Smilies have a grin big enough for me right now!)

I will get to the bottom of this. The following link from the reliable old beeb reports the death of the previous mentioned Japanese lady, aged 116, and also of her successor, another Japanese who then immediately died aged 113. The holder of world's oldest person seems to be with a 113 year old American lady now. Read on... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/3268151.stm Other, unsubstantiated reports of people living to huge ages still persist, but the rule of thumb seems to be that the Guinness Book of Records needs to ratify their age before they can claim the crown (and then drop dead). So, I will stand by my suggestion to the ruling board, that the world's oldest person or man/woman should be included in the yearly list. You know it makes sense! DWB

This research thing has turned-up a whole host of problems - due mainly to the fact old people who can't prove their age keep popping-up (and then popping-off) in the strangest of places. See the quote below: I think I will leave it at that. DWB

The Japanese bloke who was the world's oldest man until September 2003 also died aged 114 and in the same village, Kyushu, lives the world's oldest woman, or world's oldest person if you like. Kamato Hongo is 116 years old. I will do more research to see if she has pegged-out since the report I am reading was published. DWB

Yes, I know, it probably isn't in the spirit of DeathList, but I do think that a place should be put by in the years 50 favourites for the oldest man in the world. It seems to be a bit of a poisoned challis - one minute your the the worlds oldest man, next your the worlds youngest corpse. The worlds oldest man at the end of last year when this list was published was an aged Spanish fellow who lasted until 3 weeks ago. He had inherited the title from a Japanese who had given-up the ghost in September. I know it's a bit of an obvious choice, but at least it would just about guarantee a score in the first quarter of the season. Perhaps he who holds the title on the 31st December should take the final spot on the board ahead of Clive Dunn, who quite obviously will become the worlds oldest man eventually! DWB

How very, VERY frustrating!

Ahhh . . . do I see a familiar pattern emerging? Cooler weather at the end of the summer, Christmas approaching, something to look forward to . . . better hang on then. Oh . . . Christmas has gone now, miserable weather, very damp and chilly, not feeling too well . . . goodbye! The facts don't lie - very soon now and it will be the opening score of the season. Exciting days ahead! DWB -
Although it could of been in "Airplane 2: The Same Jokes Again", but whose counting? DWB

I believe all is explained in the film "Airplane": I Hope this helps. DWB

Johnnie Walker - how's he doing?

Putting the server attack to one side for a moment, I notice Johnny is back on the radio and sounding particularly chirpy. So we can stand-down the hearse. DWB -

Quite right Reaper. Credibility points is one way of looking at it, or another would be swotting-up for next year's DL candidates. You can never do enough research - and the forum would be a bit of a desert without it. So I will keep looking for the next Russell Hunter or Carl Anderson. Now where did I put the Hollywood Hospital's telephone number. . . ? DWB -
Johnnie Walker - how's he doing?

So . . . the invasion has begun. 149 people on line at one time. That makes 140 odd Rikki or Pat raiders in the system. I'm sure I speak for all DL members when I say - I SHALL DEFEND THE LIST TO THE DEATH! DWB -
The massive American I was trying to think of was Johnny Perry. I found this link to a report of his death. He was only 29. Strong men departures are almost as difficult to predict as pro-cyclists, but still worth bearing in mind though. http://www.wral.com/news/1801726/detail.html DWB

Apology accepted - I don't suppose you know if Les was Scottish? A friend of mine now thinks he might be a Brum - I could have been doing our Northern cousins a diservice there. DWB

So Les Gray, the lead singer with 70's glam-rock band Mud has given up the ghost. It turns out he had throat cancer which he blamed on his 50 smokes a day habit, and had opted not to have his voicebox removed - presumably so he wouldn't croak - How wrong you can be! No surprises then when he died of A HEART ATTACK! What a shame this information didn't come to our attention 2 months ago. I do believe he was another Jock - what is it about the Scots at the moment? Anyway, if you are interested you can read more about it by following this link. http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=2565389 DWB

Greetings to the Yeti - Member No. 51????? Calling Grim "webmaster" Reaper - if we had 37 members before the big hairy one became a member - what happened next? I looked this morning and thought a whole rugby team had joined up. DWB -
For what it's worth, I do actually know someone who is a good friend of Patrick Moore. This is what I wrote in January which I think still stands. You never know though - the old duffer could go and do something daft, like stop breathing! DWB
-
Well, if deaths always happen in 3's, place your bets now. With two champion cyclists pegging-out this week, Marco Pantani, suspected drugs o/d, and Johan Sermon, heart failure at 21, the choice is yours. DWB

I don't know if anybody else picked-up on this, but at the end of November 2003, Denis Law the ex-Manchester United and Scotland football player had surgery for prostate cancer. I haven't heard how is doing since then. Might be worth investigating. Would you believe it - another famous jock! DWB

Mr Stats Perhaps you would be so kind as to publish the top 5 baron spells of Deathlist since its conception. Just to see how worrying almost five months without a corpse really is. I must admit Reapers plan of building up anticpation of a death is certainly working - I can't wait for that 'first time' feeling. I'm told you always remember your first! Bring out your dead! DWB
