Deathlist Average Scoring
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to weasel's topic in DeathList Forum
No kidding. Face it, folks - unless you are GR, CR, etc......... IT'S NOT YOUR LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not a democracy. There is no "we" involved here. You get what you pay for. Your "membership" is free. Go do the math. Couldn't agree more, CA. It's not like every Catholic on earth gets a vote for the next Pope, is it. -
Deathlist Average Scoring
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to weasel's topic in DeathList Forum
Surely Windsor, the GR is the Monarch! Does the GR have a son ready to take the throne when he pops his cloggs? If so, lets have a Monarchy! No progeny as yet, I'm afraid. -
Great call, Madame D (and Artemis of course).

A reference - of course - to Workington's admirable performance, holding Hinkley to a goal-less draw... Nope, I think HMBWA was referring to Wrexham's sound 3-1 trouncing of Boston Utd, neatly avoiding the drop themselves and sending Boston Utd down instead. Yeah, a slightly grudging well done to you sheepshaggers, Honez. Much as I'd have enjoyed you making the drop, it wouldn't be the same without those 12.00 kick-offs and the ever-present threat of the other type of kick-offs. Not that I've been to a Chester/Wrexham game for a few years of course - Barnet and Wycombe are about as far as I'll travel these days, armchair fan that I've become

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2007
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Many Happy Returns to two of the DL's big hitters, Football Fan (10th most posts) and TLC (32nd). Of course, it's quality not quantity that counts, and these two fine upstanding chaps fit the bill to a T. May you both post on and on into the far blue horizon... -
Armitage is currently in bed with a "hangover the size of f*****g Wales, my boy" but he's not one to let his public down and tells me that Wise Digger in race 10, the Colin Macabe Shifty Stakes, is a "canine with potential", whatever that means. He also wishes to thank his old mucker Artie Flanks for his Kentucky Derby tip and Artie's friend Madame Defarge for passing the message on. He then started to ramble on about the time he and Mr Flanks went through the card at a cockfighting meet in Mexico City in '64, but I put the receiver down. So, who does Army like in the 2,000 Guineas tomorrow? Gotta be US Ranger, surely (even though he's French). When I read the names out to him he groaned loudest when I got to Diamond Tycoon, so I think that's the tip (at about 8/1). Personally I reckon it's wide open with the late defection of Teofilo, and US Ranger has as decent a chance as any. Artemis Flanks's selection for the Run to the Roses, Street Sense, is on offer at 4/1.

Good Evening/Afternoon/Morning, A quick googlecheck has told me what the keno is (a lottery of sorts?), and I must say it seems jolly exciting. Unfortunately, being a resident of the United Kingdom where we don't have such a competition, my information would be plucked purely from the ether, thus I'm afraid I can be of little help in the matter - however, I wish you all the fortune on earth, sir/madam. A tip for this weekend's 2,000 Guineas will be forthcoming after I've had a few words with my fellow on the inside, Knuckles McLaverty. Until then, au revoir, Armitage Shanks MBE

Formula 1 & Other Motor Racing
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Sorry, forgot to sign in before. I think we picked de Cesaris in 87 because he seemed to be a disaster waiting to happen in the 86 F1 c'ship. Perhaps our resident experts can clarify the situation - did he really deCrasharis as often as we imagined? -
Horses are hard enough, dogs impossible. Anyway, didn't we just bet on animals involving your name? Trap 5 every race, that's Cowboy Ronnie's method. I'm sure that'll work and you'll have more time at the bar, which is the main reason to go greyhound racing. Best of British to you.

How Long Until We're Dickless?
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Gunjaman5000's topic in DeathList Forum
Surf guitar legend Dick Dale, as featured on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, turns 70 on Friday. Probably lives in Cali and is as fit as a fiddle. -
So nondescript that we've decided to get rid of Mark Wright for a second time (or did he jump ship again?). Maybe it's time to give Rushie another go Or perhaps it's all connected with Big Sam's hurried and mysterious departure from Bolton...?

There's also the equally splendidly-named (after an instrument of torture?) Irish political figure Dick Spring, but he's only 57 with no previous, sad to say. -
[childish voice on] Sorry Mr Wait, I won't do it again. I proommmmissssse. I weally weally do. [childish voice off] 'arry, me son, as they say everywhere, the wonderful world of Iain/Dave/Smithy/Stan is almost too weird & wonderful for words. How best to capture this engimatic, perhaps mistaken genius (some say a true cult hero) in a few choice words? Nay, it's impossible. All I can proffer for your bedtime reading, to supplement a warm cup of cocoa & a hobnob biscuit is this, this & the entire works of iain here. Always brings a chuckle & a smile to my day. PS Thanks Mr/Mrs/Ms/Dr/Prof etc Guest. Thanks for enlightening me, OoO, it's grimly fascinating stuff. Managed to get through the first two threads, but baulked at the thought of reading 36 pages of this guy's blether. It'd take something a lot stronger than cocoa, anyway...

Iain also made appeals to the moderators to ban or warn other people. Iain also has appalling spelling & grammar skills. Iain also killed off celebrities & started threads making us think people were dead (The Death of Tony Blair, recently, may I add) Iain also made outrageously silly predictions which never come true & waste peoples time. (2 dead DL'rs by today) Iain also was obessed with Dr. Who & Prisoner Cell Block H. Iain also reported the death of people a number of days after their death. (Les Jackson) Iain is also obessed with the death of Michael Foot. Iain is also somebody who thinks the death of a fellow countryman will result in a member of DL's death. (Rostropovih/Solzhenitsyn?) Iain also had his name signed in as iain. You have your name signed in as dave. 4 letter words, no capitals each time... Iain also contributed nothing to the forum. Hell of a lot of coincidence there, eh? Unless you are his stupid twin brother. and the biggest clue that you are Iain is that you keep responding to the name Iain when we moan about you! Sadly, Iain is not dead. I will happily accept any warning from the mods, but when the mods themselves (Anubis The Jackal & Notapotato frequently insult you Iain, but in a far cleverer way, above your head, of course) insult you, I am not expecting any action. Since I'm fairly new here, could someone please explain the obsession there seems to be with this 'Iain' bloke? BrunoBrimley recently accused me of being Iain on the Tipster thread; well, I'm not him, have little or no interest in Michael Foot or Dr Who and believe my spelling, punctuation and grammar to be reasonably up to scratch. All the best, Harry Mac

To be fair, there are worse teams in the SPL and one of them will still be there next season - Pars or Buddies. And that must be the closest league finish since Liverpool and Arsenal in the 80s. Sounds like the Dutch Eredivisie league had an equally close finish today, with PSV edging out Ajax on goal difference as the erstwhile leaders Alkmaar slipped to 3rd.

2 pts fewer than the previous season, but I take your point.

Hearty congratulations to the Chester City lads for another nondescript season and all the best to Boston and Macclesfield next Saturday in their combined attempts to send Wrexham to the Conference netherworld (no offence, Conference fans )

I don't think US racing is Shanks's speciality, but I'll ask him for a tip during the week. He's licking his wounds after a fairly poor day at Sandown Park yesterday, but at least he got a lovely suntan and was pleasantly surprised by a free gig from the Bootleg Beatles.

Ronnie's off playing softball with the laydeez all day, so i don't think he'll be backing anything. As for the Betfred, I reckon Wee Robbie e/w at about 12/1. Good luck with the Cornish sett, RM
-
Morning All, Well sadly the thought of carrying the Shanks's millions has made Alderburn come over all peculiar and he's been declared a non-runner, so while I wouldn't deter anyone from following Mr Mad Ron's selection (although I must say that his avatar perhaps gives a small clue as to why he's plumped for Cornish Sett), today's tip is now Treasury Counsel in the 2.10 at Sandown. Happy punting everyone Toodle-oo Armitage Shanks MBE

dead Stephen Hawking
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Death Watch Beatle's topic in DeathList Forum
If Hawking's so f*****g clever why does he go on about humans living on other planets, which is pretty much un-possible. Apparently it would take a space ship 6 months to travel the 35 million miles to Mars. The next closest star besides the Sun is something called Proxima Centauri, which is 4.2 light years away, or 262,500 times further than the Sun. If the Sun is 93 million miles away, then, so long as you left at night, it would take 18 months to get there. To get to the next closer star would take 3,150,000 years. Dumbass. Clive Dunn would no doubt still be alive when the spaceship arrived.
