I'm not the only one who's noticed the resemblance!

One of the most significant deaths came in 1979, when just weeks before the General Election, one of Thatcher's aides Airey Neave, was killed by an INLA (whoever they are) bomb. Just months afterwards, Lord Mountbatten was killed by the the IRA's aqua division. There have subsequent rumours that the pair were involved in a conspiracy to take over Britian at the appropriate moment....

Donald Dewar? Lord Williams? Both died whilst they were part of the Labour cabinet and/or held a major role in the Labour power machine.... Lord Williams? My mind's a blank on that one! Donald Dewar didn't hold such a high profile position, although if we're talking prominent politicians, then Robin Cook, albeit not in the cabinet, was a big loss, in more ways than one.....

Tony Thompson (just thought I'd stick his name here so that search will find it and we don't get duplicates). The NME have their facts incorrect in the link given. According to the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)" only made it to No.43 in the UK charts. It did reach No.1 in the US though. Their only other UK hit was "She's Playing Hard to Get" (No.55 in 1992). By the way, what do we think of the NME's cover photo of Beth Ditto in the link? Never heard of him..... As for Beth Ditto, I might be going out on a limb here and suggest that she could do with losing a few pounds...

You know, I was watching that Andrew Marr show about post-war Britain the other day and when he mentioned Gaitskell, I thought that there hadn't been any major political deaths since John smith in 1994 and none from the government since Tony Crosland (I think) in 1977. It would be of supreme irony if Prezza was to cop it and overshadow Blair's long goodbye...

Happy Birthday Mr Bear.... and a Happy Birthday to Star Crossed who will always be a little bit ahead of me... -
Yes, I think Tammy is the favourite - a couple of months at the most. But with death you never who might pop it next! I bet that it will be someone relatively unexpected....

I'll bet you any money that Liverpool will be lumbered with a newly promoted team away, while Man U and Chelsea get easy home starters. I feel it in my blood...

Tony Bastable, one of the first presenters of 70s kid's show Magpie has died.. Ooh yer Bastable!

There's nothing like a celebrity to advertise the fact that they will cop it. There's a TV programme this week in which Beryl Bainbridge thinks she's had it and wont be long for this world... But the evidence of the blurb for suggests no concrete evidence, Judge for yourself...

Is it not this one then? Plenty of rants here: http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?...l=pool%20hunter Ha, ha, that Hoonter thread's a right cracking read. We need something to spark a Ranters Return. When Jane Tomlinson pops her clogs I predict that her thread will become quite lively. In fact I would prognosticate that the tidal wave of bristling moral indignation will cause DeathList to crash for several days. I thought that the Ross Davidson thread was one of the sickest. He caused a lot of frustration for deadpoolers by hanging on way longer than he should have, given that he as suffering from the most dangerous form of brain cancer. I've always regretted posting "I do wish he'd hurry up" on his thread. This and a poster who claimed to know Ross, mocking his fate and making some rather indescrete revelations about his personal life. Not forgetting the fact that the news of his passing was broken on DeathList 12 hours before any other internet source, the poster was the wife of somone who had been asked to play bagpipes at his funeral. Every so often, a ranter would pluck this quote from one of the posters, (wishing he'd hurry up and cark it) and use this as this stick to beat us with, even in other unrelated threads. I'm thinking of saying something on similar lines regarding Lee Hazelwood!

Perhaps he's gone fishing or something....

Never fear - surely Reg Gutteridge is a fine replacement for Mr Ulu'falu... Is that what happened to Reg? Poor man. I'm sure I saw him on a prog a few weeks ago, he seemed OK. Mind you it was from the chest up!

I'm usually pretty good with Scots dialect jokes, but you've lost me. 'Sellick' is Glasgow slang for Celtic, and 'tap' is top so Sellick tap = Celtic top, hope that helps . Nope, even with the explaination I don't get it..I was kind of guessing a celtic tap was the same as a glasgow kiss! Not quite! A top is something you wear on the top half of your body like a T shirt, in Glasgow top is pronounced tap, so a Celtic tap is a Celtic Football Club jersey. Here's another scottish joke: What's the difference between Bing Crosby and Walt Disney? Bing sings and Walt Disney!

Now only three survivors of the 1945 Parliament left: Michael Foot, Francis Noel-Baker and John Freeman...
