Banshees Scream replied to Godot's topic in DeathList Forum
What is my view? My view is "This thread would be cooler if Terminator wasn't in it.." Getting serious, my initiative in this thread was suggesting a now or never. I don't care what anybody says, Danny Devito or Gary Coleman or Tom Cruise will never hold a certificate of death in the first ever film made in color. The end. -
Ideas And Possibilities For 2009
Banshees Scream replied to Anubis the Jackal's topic in DeathList Forum
Noted. He's another bold choice as far as that qualified recognition goes. It would really make the selection process easier if this upcoming news week could provide some difference-making obituaries. I'm reaching my limit as I have an overload of valuable names for next year. A very productive news week would seal the deal but we have time yet. -

Oh Godot, I know you can't get enough. Anyway, the canibal question really elevated my mood because I can sense the urgency in Devon's post. I really don't know the answer to that question. If there were a few He Ping Ping's running around near a cannibalistic tribe I guess they might snatch them. It's a very unsual question. I think these "animals" who do things like that should be captured by civilized people and locked away in a cage somewhere. -

I'll introduce this post with saying that some people might think very little of Meinhardt Raabe. People might say that even as he held the certificate of death in the first-ever film to be shown in color does not mean he is qualifiable for Deathlist. Well, in my view, bigger plans should be made for Mr. Raabe. I might think of a diseased animal crawling up my sleeve everytime I read his name but that doesn't mean he isn't a one shot deal or that he shouldn't be given some consideration for next year. -
Stephen Hawking will give up his prestigious academic title due to the mandatory retirement age. I say he is a very bold choice for next year. The average life expectancy for people with ALS is 3 - 5 years. The question remains: How much longer can this man beat the odds?

Peter Quaife, the founding member of the Kinks, has been suffering from renal failure since 1998. A quality pick in my view. I also agree that Sir John Mortimer is worth the risk but I'm unaware of his fame status. Does he have Alzheimers or is it just me? Wendy Richard might be a little obvious for the commitee and Walter Cronkite has been in decent health. Selecting all these names is almost like playing chess.

Dear TMIB: I hate you man! You stole my idea! Nah, it's alright. I was going to create a thread with a poll involving all of the prime candidates but you beat me to it. I will endorse the following names: Senator Ted Kennedy Patrick Swayze Corazon Aquino Johannes Heesters Peter Quaife General Jaruzelski Robert Sargent Shriver Vo Nguyen Giap Annette Funicello Gough Whitlam Phyllis Diller Václav Havel Edwin Morgan Chuck Berry Allain Robert Robert Novak Than Shwe These are all Deathlist material.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous
Banshees Scream replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
You hear that Godot? No panic. No panic. So Mary, if you don't mind me asking, what candidate is eating you alive right now? Is it Rabbi Phillip Berg? Maybe it's Tomoj Tanabe who still is having daily milk.. or could it be that Trudi is faking her illness because those Anti Tobacco campaigners will do anything it takes? Think Rob Reiner. Anyway, obscurity is really what deprives success in this game. I want all my candidates to have frequent media coverage next year. I DON'T WANT DEAD BEATS! That's the lesson I learn from this year. What's very difficult is finding a unique pick. -
The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous
Banshees Scream replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Overall, you cannot expect Odstock to ban the "famous for being ill" stereotype because that category expands into what is generally acceptable and cannot be excluded. With knowing that, those local candidates with terminal cancer are legal if they manage to receive the qualified recognition. I guess one might view that result as being unfair but I think you need to look beyond the probability of these candidates getting a mention. Look at Carkers Convention, he has four hits. The experiment failed! The risk did not gain any profit. Isn't he proof? Shouldn't that performance set the example? The real value in this game we play narrows down to simplicity. If you need an example, look at Godot's waiting list. I think the difference in my team next year will be how exact and obvious it is. I'm not saying making gambles never pays but it shouldn't be anybody's approach. At this point, my team is currently stacked with those who will have obituaries arriving shortly so Master Mind is lucky if one local candidate is selected. -
Let's remember that this Abdelbaset Al-megrahi has the same disease which led to Eddie Thompson's long anticipated demise. How many years did it take Thompson again? Is the risk worth the profit? I'm undecided. I won't be listing Ronnie Biggs but Bevel and Atkins on the other hand are lucky to see New Years. Fujimori's diagnosis is very different then the condition which is consuming Patrick Swayze. I won't be listing Fujimori but Riad Seif or Ieng Sary will be evaluated.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2008
Banshees Scream replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
While we have to wait .. Tonight, I give you one of the most strangest arrangements ever to occur in a film. Was he not the perfect guy for the part? Don't ask me where it came from. Sometimes it's the character for that part which defines the fundemental difference between a scene and a classic scene. -
I'm going to hit the road for a little while but first I wanted to congratulate Odstock on becoming a DL custodian. I think you were the essential candidate for the position and now you have access to the other dimension. Everyone acts a little differently over there. I also wanted to ask you if any additions could be made in DDP at this point in the year. The famous for being ill issue is settled but I like the idea of a new bonus. Without saying anything else, is this up for consideration?

I stopped for a few months and it was an experiment testing several outcomes. I wanted to see how others would function in my absence and I wanted to see what my reaction would be in the long term. It's complex but not unbearable. I know Godot's disease and the truth is that I don't want to see another milestone. I've said it once before. I once frauded my post count so if it could be lowered by 100 or so it might extend my longevity here. I'm not going anywhere now but this discussion is a reminder to post more conservatively.

President (recumbent) Barack Obama

The most narrow minded aspect of organized religion is that it's followers fail to blend most of these beliefs with modern life. The origination of this philosophy happened in a time where people went their whole entire lives without taking a shower. The prevention of teenage pregnancies and people getting HIV are the issues "people of god" should support. I view the Catholic church as an individual who doesn't have electricity in their home. I think these people need to stop the horseshit and set an appointment for a reality check so these beliefs can be reformed. They often have this habit of comparing the devil to a deformed dog but I prefer to compare the Catholic Church to the polar bears. -
f**k! How could I say Angus Young?.. That's not what I meant. I really haven't thought about ACDC until recently so that's my excuse. It's not a quality excuse either. A quality excuse would mean that you are guilt-free. In this case, there is no excuse.
-
I was listening to one of their latest songs "Spolin' for a fight" the other day and I would say it's typical ACDC. I've always been a fan to an extent. What makes them stand alone is the fact that if anyone else tried to sing like Bon Scott or Angus Young it wouldn't have been long before they would be working the nightshift at Wendy's.

Godot, I saw you on here at around 2 AM "your time" last night and I was going to confront you. Did something not go according to plan? Were you sneaking an alchoholic beverage? I was going to suggest that you might have been having that late night snack 'of unusual fruit" or that you were finishing up an article. I was going to admit that you remind me of a Maurice Allais or a younger version of Nick Clooney, the father of George. I was going to create a "Here's to you" post but I didn't. Last night, I was also going to make a detailed rant in the "Ask A Deathlister" thread which would have consisted of me labeling "spammers" a complete waste of life. Isn't there some kind of preventive software which can disallow these people in their damp gloomy basements from gaining access? And as far as moderating goes, I feel it's very overvalued by some. The current ones we have are also more active then one might think. I'm sure that if anyone gets elected to the job, it will be in everyones best interest.

This will be the first poll I've created since April 9 2005. The curiosity is not viewing the health of those in the latest news headlines but viewing our own. Do we need to take a long hard look in the mirror? Let's remember that we are the people who observe the mortality of others. Does this teach us anything? Do we gain valuable knowledge on how to manage our lives or do we believe no disease can conquer us. I created this basic thread to gather a better understanding of who exactly we are and where we stand. The choices could be more expandable but select anything which is close. I sort of f**ked up "the first poll I created" so let's hope it works out a little differently this time.
-
First of all, I understand that you ticked every box and that's because you are an ignorant human being. I've already stated that. Second, only 12 members have voted at this point. The nature of this poll narrows down to me being able to trust that other members will be honest. Maybe I should review that opinion? Personally, I don't believe everyone is that irrational. According to you, everybody will vote with the same ridiculous approach you have. All I really gain from your complaint is a wake up call indicating that everybody votes like a fool.
-
Um execuuuuuse me, but the poll is intended to calculate the whole health situation of common posters here. What's meaningless is this your latest moan of nonesense. Any intelligent person would understand that "If you expect to live for fifty more years" you would only check that box and not all the others. It's not really rocket science. I'm sorry, I didn't know you needed special directions. If you want me to school you on the current mentality you have, I would say look up the definition for ignorance. Inform yourself.

I guess for some reason my assumption was that it was an actual term. It must have been late. I'll rephrase what I said with "natural life style" meaning "You only usually consume natural products and generally you try to avoid anything which is not organic". However, this doesn't mean you are a vegetarian. This life style choice should most likely lower the probability of developing various illnesses. The main reason people are sick revolves around what they put into their bodies. I actually try and follow this routine to an extent but I sort of break the rules. .

I admit that it's getting exciting. The beginning of a new year is a time to motivate ourselves towards goals which will lead us into other phases. It's a time of renewal. I must also admit that the whole "New Years celebration" is a little overdone. All I really need on New Years is a drink and some satisfying appetizers. It's that time of year which is really my prime time.

I do agree that advantages and disadvantages of society will always exist in some form or another. I also agree that some form of descrimination (and even new forms) will continue as (people of the middle eastern world are a recent example) can be looked down upon by some of society. I do believe people will eventually view their differences in a new light someday. If .. (30% of America is racist) it might only be 15% by 2040. It's impossible to tell but I do think all things can change to an extent. -
Did you know we have the same question? Anyway, I won't make this an issue but while I'm in this thread, I'll mention that the individual who organized this gathering is uncontactable in my case. I wanted to lend him advice as to where the event should be held but I couldn't reach him. I said that I wasn't invited 'as a joke " and even if I really did want to meet and make friends, it wasn't an option due to the circumstances. I'm not really here to socialize with you people but that doesn't mean I don't think the majority of you are all very facinating. I'm sure it would be very revealing but there are so many unknowns involved. If it ever happens now is not the time. I don't see it as being realistic right now. I'll leave it at that.
