Cartoonist "PEET", Peiter Smart died 30 April aged 87 (Covid, possibly); he was also a successful artist and innhis younger days a motorcycle racer. As well as appearing the Local Evening Argus, he also appeared in The Morning Star.

Its seven years since Scottish musician and arranger John/Johnny Keating died. He was 87 and had been suffering from Lewy Body dementia. He worked with artists as diverse as Ted Heath (not that one) to Eden Kane, including the music score for the 1967 film Hotel (based on the Arthur Hailey novel). UK readers probably know him best for his performance of Johnny Todd, the theme from Z Cars (and Everton FC), arranged by Norrie Paramour.

Patch Adams is 77 today; the US physician famously dresses as a clown (with other volunteers) to bring joy to orphans and other patients. Founder of the "Gesundheit! Institute", a free community hospital for those who don't ordinarily have access to healthcare. He was famously played by Robin Williams in the eponymous film. -

I've already seen that, not having any idea what it was about, just based on who was in it. Not bad. There's three more seasons of NCIS on Disney+ so working my way through those. -

Feeling a bit stuck for viewing as Derry Girls has finished and Better Call Saul is on its mid-season break (why?), I was pleased to see season 3 of The Boys is coming to Prime Video at the end of the week! -

Bob Hall, former ITVCentral sports presenter, has died. A familiar presence on Midlands TV screens until unceremoniously dumped; he seemed to have migrated to Sky a few years back.

Former Norwich & Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Neil O'Donnell has died aged 72. Also played a season for Gillingham in between. Won the 71-72 Second Division with Norwich.

Dyfrig Evans, of Welsh band Topper & Welsh soap Rownd a Rownd has died aged 43. Topper rings a bell somewhere in the furthest recesses of my mind, but I could be thinking of something else.

Gerald Ronson is 83 today. The CEO of Heron International was one of "the Guinness Four", convicted in 1990 as part of the Guinness share-trading scandal of the '80s. He was fined £5,000,000 and sentenced to 1 year imprisonment (of which 6 months was served, at Ford Open prison). In the late '90s Heron international almost collapsed, only being saved by virtue of loans, including from Bill Gates and Rupert Murdoch. A long-time supporter of charities, including, he was made a CBE in 2012 for charitable services, notwithstanding his criminal convictions. -
Joe Garcia, husband of teacher Irma Garcia, killed in the Texas school shooting, has subsequently died of a heart attack, according to the Scottish Scum.
