The Happy Birthday Thread

Former racing driver Hans Hermann is 94 today. He had an unremarkable F1 career, but did win the 24 hour Le Mans. Wikipedia claims, without providing evidence, he was kidnapped and spent several hours locked in a car boot before escaping, though unusually Wikipedia has not tagged this as 'citation needed'. Today is the 64th anniversary of Juan Manuel Fangio's kidnap prior to the Cuban Grand Prix. -
One of the finest players to represent Stoke City died 15 years ago today, aged 65. He's Stoke's all-time leading scorer, with 176 in 347 appearances. He died exactly seven years after another Stoke legend, Stanley Matthews.

Its 79 years since Christoph Probst, Hans Scholl & Sophie Scholl, members of the White Rose resistance movement, were executed by the Nazis.

I've seen his age given as 93 in several other 'respected' outlets, - OK! magazine & The Daily Star for 2. The amount of coverage seems disproportionate for 6 episodes! eta: Metro & Sun both wrong too - the only newspaper site that appears to have the correct age is the Daily Mail.

Artist David Gentleman is still alive at the age of 91. He's as much a part of the British fabric as the speaking clock and London Underground platform announcements, as he's designed over 100 sets of commemorative stamps for the Royal Mail (amongst his other work); fittingly he's now being honoured with a new set of commemorative stamps to mark his work.

Deighton was also an accomplished cook and wrote extensively on the subject, which is why Harry Palmer is shown as such.

If the fourteenth Doctor has arrived, the people across the road won't be able to watch, as half of their TV aerial is hanging off the roof.

What's with the off-topic posts? This thread's for BRICK buildings, not tents or wooden sheds.

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?

I have, rather belatedly, this week caught up with season 2 of Feel Good; having watched season one (which I stumbled upon purely by accident) I'd eagerly anticipated season 2. What I hadn't realised is that Channel 4 had dropped it and it would only be on Netflix; I found out just after I cancelled Netflix! Suffice to say, easily one of the best things I've watched this year, and I have confidence that it will still be in my top 5 in 10 months time. -

I read the book, haven't watched the show; if I remember correctly, Kay's sexuality is never stated in the book, there's just references to a partner. If I remember I'll have a catch-up on that. -
Complements LFN's spelling quite nicely.

Unless there's been a shift in the space-time continuum (which I think would have ben reported) and 2022 is also 2014, then the answer is yes.

How about something that encapsulates the Alan Partridge shrug too. Same reason(s) as cited above.
