Virgin Media. In this era of electronic communication, I get a frisson of excitement when I find an actual letter on the doormat. This is immediately quelled on finding its just another letter from Virgin Media telling me how much I can save if I have one of their boxes. (Note to Virgin, I can save even more by not having one). I reckon if they'd sent everyone a basic system instead of all the glossy brochures, they'd be no worse off financially.

Its 130 years since Alexander Borodin began decomposing, aged 53. Borodin was also a renowned chemist, but is chiefly known as a composer. He was awarded a Tony Award in 1954, 67 years after his death, after his works were adapted for the musical Kismet, the most famous song being Stranger in Paradise.
