I know some people do get close to their pets, but I think the Daily Mail has gone overboard regarding Peaches, Philip Schofield's cat, who ran out of lives today. There's three photographs, including one of Philip Schofield, just in case the readership has forgotten what he looks like since they last saw him a couple of hours earlier, plus a screengrab of his Twitter page!

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2010

Interesting fact: His sister is Christina Pickles, who played Ross and Monica's mother in "Friends" - just thought you might like to know if you didn't already. Their uncle was actor Wilfred Pickles. and his daughter is actress Carolyn Pickles from The Bill and Emmerdale. He is not, as far as I know, related to Tommy and Dil from Rugrats.

We've all been told of the dangers of smoking in bed... This guy was in hospital being treated for nicotine poisoning. I liked this bit...

Counted out, you might say.

...not forgetting 'Nightingales' with Robert Lindsay & David Threlfall. I only saw it a couple of times but I remembered it being very strange! Going back further (and entirely unconnected) I was thinking of Please Sir! John Alderton is still with us (a mere 70 years old) but of the rest of the regular staff Richard Davies (Pricey) is the only survivor; he'll be 85 next month. I have no knowledge of his health or state of mind, so can't endorse him as a candidate, but you never know.

It'd be a waste of good ammo. What's a pelebrity exactly? A celebrity after a pelting, with rotten veggies, perhaps? May I suggest a celebrity version of the ? regards, Hein I assumed a pelebrity was a pleb who masquerades as a celebrity, like most of those appearing on the shows mentioned.

Former Burnley star Ralph Coates has died aged 64. He also played for Spurs and Orient, and won 4 England caps. He recently suffered a stroke from which never recovered. Edit: See above!

There's going to be a celebrity version of Pointless too, which feels like sacrilege a bit. Having said that I recently watched the celeb edition of 15 to 1 from 20 years ago on youtube and it wasn't too bad, only two of the 15 are dead which is interesting. As if there aren't already enough pointless celebrity shows (actually, I might watch that, depending on who's on it, as I do enjoy it anyway).

I went for ? too!

"Celebrity" shows. It was bad enough with I'm a Celebrity, celebrity Come Dancing (or whatever) and Celebrity dancing on ice, but do we have to have celebrity versions of everything? To name a few: All-Star Family Fortunes (apart from all the unknown family members, and Vernon Kay, obviously); Celebrity Mastermind Celebrity Wife Swap Celebrity Big Brother Celebrity Ready Steady Cook and this week I've already seen Celebrity Eggheads and as I type, there's Celebrity Grimefighters (one of whom is apparently Nancy Dell'Olio) though I will concede its quite humourous seeing Neil Morrisey up to his armpits in shit!

Maggie. That's all I want for Christmas!

We're too late, he died last year ...

Robert Donat died 52 years ago.

Then there's this chappie, former special constable, former magistrate, former Hampshire FA chief and former kiddy-fiddler, Ray Barnes, found dead in a Southampton car park, again before sentencing.

Eric Fullilove, aged 85. Though British by birth, Eric Fullilove emigrated to Australia in 1964, on a £10 assisted passage. His best known work would most likely be Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo; he directed nearly half the episodes.

Keith Barron is an actor I've never had much time for. I thought it was because of the execrable Duty Free, but he was just the same in dictionary corner on Countdown. I formed a similar opinion of Anton Rodgers mainly based on his performances in Fresh Fields and May to December.

I certainly remember him in Dave Allen's shows. I'm surprised to find he was only 65, but if Dave Allen was still alive he'd only be 73. I remember him from "There's no Place like Home" too. Didn't one of the cast members of that die young while on their honeymoon. Yes, Stephen Watson in 1986. What I can remember from that series is that it had a young Martin Clunes in it...

As the idea of the deathlist is to predict 50 people who may die in that year, it seems reasonable to me to include a fair amount of people who may achieve that through 'old age'. If the number of 'over 80's' is restricted to 10, that leaves 40 spaces to fill with what? Terminally ill people? People with high-risk lifestyles? Whichever way you do it, someone will come along and say its loaded too far in favour of one particular demographic. A further thought. The opening post in this thread was complaining about the number of over 80's, suggesting that the DL committe had gone for easy pickings. Now at the tail-end of the year we've got jokers like 888-333 complaining its been a bad year beacause all the low-hanging fruit hasn't fallen from the tree!

No, its how one spells "fourty-two"!
