Its 21 years since the death of Denys Fisher, aged 84. An engineer by trade, he joined the family firm after dropping out of Leeds University, before setting out on his own in 1960, with Denys Fisher Engineering, which won a NATO contract to produce springs for a cannon shell fuse the following year. The financial security of this contract allowed him to pursue another project which had been a passion for some time, namely the production of intricate symmetrical patterns using cogs and gears. This ultimately lead to the invention of the Spirograph, which became a worldwide hit, selling more than 100 millions units by the time of his death. The company was sold to Palitoy in 1970, then to Hasbro, and produced toys, often with TV tie-ins, such as Doctor Who figures, and board games, also often TV-related, such as the On The Buses and George and Mildred board games. Fisher continued to work with Hasbro to refine Spirograph and develop new ideas.

So .. What Do You Watch On TV?

I watch most things with subtitles these days, which I put down to deteriorating hearing, however, I watch M*A*S*H and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) on Great! TV and find I can manage perfectly well without subtitles. Clearer enunciation and no overwhelming background music! The 60s and 70s could teach today's programme makers a thing or two. -
Colin Murphy, of a shitload of managerial positions, including Derby County, Southend Utd, Lincoln City, Hull City and the Vietnam national team, dead aged 73.

I don't know, if he continues to use 'refute' when he means 'deny' he might have to watch his back. He was never my cup of tea even before Sachsgate, I never found him funny.

If, as Sunak stated, the dogs are a danger to our communities, and he orders a cull, he must also logically order a cull of Conservative MPs who have also demonstrated they are a danger to our communities. -

I more or less agree with what @Commtech Sio Bibble said. Why are people so obsessed with 'policing' the forum? We have mods, we have admins. Let them admin and mod, and the rest of us just carry on regardless.

Jean Boht Brown Bread, surely?

Mary Wilson, Clarissa Eden, Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Reagan all had their own threads, so I don't see any reason for Mme Chirac not to. She was/is a notable figure in her own right, even before Chirac was President.
