Former British & Irish Lions player Ronnie Lamont dead aged 81. (This is not the Lions player named Ronnie who's on my theme team).

I really wish I'd thought of this joke at the time.
-

Proper obit for Andrew Nickolds, written by Matthew Engel, who I more associate with cricket, but then Nickolds wrote some cricket-based stuff.

Aussie actor Tony Barry reported dead by Sam Neill. Think of your favourite Aussie TV show, he was probably in it.

Re. Barrowman - I don't if this is the devastating news alluded to above, but he's cancelled his tour because of poor ticket sales.

There's only one possible winner. -

Certainly not my favourite Blondie track, but deserves to survive until the latter reaches of the final.

Strangely enough, not for me either. I suspect we both thought a certain unique as (as far as I know) this was Hodges' first year on the list. Cn anyone on the committee (or a past showrunner) confirm? I do have the consolation of him being my joker.

Inasmuch as one can 'love' a song, there's only 3 here I would say I love. Several I have no strong feelings either way (and I include the ABBA tracks in this number) but there are also some I've grown tired of hearing, BOTW being one of those.

I've just voted. Best received death at chez time was Russell Bishop, no contest. The other categories (well, most of them) required too much thought to say categorically 'X' is the vote, so generally went with first name that I found on the list of the dead (but this did bias it towards the latter part of the year, so Bob Saget stood no chance).

If only @Thatcher hadn't added that wiki link! I quite enjoyed a bit of The Specials back in the day, but lately spoiled by constant repetition of *that* joke.

Twenty years ago today footballer Arthur Rowley died, aged 78. He's the English Football League's leading goalscorer, with 434 goals in 619 games, in a career lasting 20 years with West Bromwich Albion, Fulham, Leicester City & Shrewsbury Town,

I think its more a case of number 8 by default, rather than anyone's opinion. People feel more strongly against ABBA other songs/artists.

If Sunday Girl is going, hopefully Waterloo & Fernando will swiftly follow (yes, I do realise what I've just done).
