Christmas. It's the only explanation I can think of.

I actually think there are better Hot Chocolate songs out there but they didn't get to number one. But I'd always pick Hot Chocolate over the vast majority of 70s number ones.

Local newspaper report; apparently the Welsh FA refused to award him his cap as it was only a 15 minute sub appearance. Took 25 years before he got it.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen
time replied to The Four Horsemen's topic in DeathList Forum
Former West Indies wicketkeeper David Murray died yesterday, aged 72. He gained 19 Test caps and 10 ODI caps, mainly as Deryck (DL) Murray's understudy; when DL Murray retired, he was overlooked as a replacement in favour of Jeffrey Dujon (possibly related to his drug use - he was a known marijuana user and there were stories of cocaine use), so instead, he joined the rebel tour of South Africa, and received a lifetime ban. -
1. "We" haven't always stuck to household names. Bill Gates' Dad? Tom Smith? 2. So what if he's a supporting actor? Supporting actors are still valid candidates for DL. 3. It's not relevant if 90%+ of people have heard of him or not; that's sort of the point of this thread - suggesting names. 4. I never claimed my household was representative of anything. Anyway, its dinnertime.

Colin Jeavons is a household name in my household, which is certainly somewhere. Also, where does it say suggestions have to be household names?

50 Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody <<<<<<<<<<<<< 49 10CC - I’m Not In Love <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< 47 David Bowie – Space Oddity <<<<<<<<<<<<<< 47 Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel – Make me smile (Come up and see me) 46 Tammy Wynette – Stand by your man 45 ABBA - Waterloo <<<<<<<<<<<<<< 45 Barry White - You`re the first, the last, my everything RE my earlier (November 19th) prediction of 6 of the current top 7 (above) making it through, turns out I was being too pessimistic, with only 4 of them making the cut (Steve Harley, Tammy Wynette, Barry White Missing out). However, the two who made it through who weren't in that 7, (Suzi Quatro & BCR) aren't necessarily improvements on those 3 that didn't.

I don't - not for any team, I was just repeating what was in the news report, but Tracy seems to have covered it.

It's 27 years since the death of Scottish DJ Stuart Henry. He was initially an actor, appearing in TV staples such as Dr. Finlay's Casebook and Z Cars, but turned to DJing with the launch of pirate radio station Radio Scotland, following which he became one of the original Radio One DJs, and also presented Top of the Pops. He suffered with multiple sclerosis, which eventually affected his speech; the BBC, believing his slurring to be caused by alcohol, dispensed with his services in 1974, after which he moved to Radio Luxembourg. As his speech worsened, he was joined in presenting by his wife Ollie (pictured above) and the show became known as The Stu and Ollie Show. He remained at Luxembourg for 12 years, before his illness forced him to retire. He died 8 years later, aged 53.

It's 21 years since the death of US singer O.C. Smith. After serving in the US Air Force, where he entered talent shows, he became a jazz singer after discharge, in order to pay the bills. He signed a recording contract with Cadence records but success eluded him. He became vocalist for Count Basie in 1961, until 1965, also recording with other labels, but the hit record never arrived. In 1968, Columbia were about to release him from his contract when chart success finally arrived, with his recording of Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp entering the charts, peaking at number 40 in the Billboard chart, but reaching number 2 in the UK (kept off the top spot by The Equals Baby come Back). Further success came in the US with his recording of Little Green Apples, one of three versions to be released, and the most successful, reaching number 2 (US Billboard Hot 100), earning a Grammy for writer Bobby Russell (see above). He continued to record, but never repeated the success of Hickory... in the UK or Apples in the US. (His only other UK chart entry was Together in 1975). He died at the aged of 69, from a heart attack.
