Ivan Miroshnichenko, one of the top prospects in the 2022 entry draft, is currently receiving long term care for undisclosed 'serious health problems'.

global health champion and co-founder of Partners In Health, Dr. Paul Farmer, has died suddenly according to the official PIH twitter. aside: i'm saddened by this news as the annual P.I.H. fundraiser, hosted by author john green and others, is something i look forward to every year; and it's coming up this weekend. edit: wiki has been updated

i hear he's been praying for the end of time for a while now. rest easy
-
Joss Ackland
-
so much alcohol in his system that he’s practically preserved
-
i went with the sorting hat, Leslie Phillips
-
they must have a pun in mind for the front page obit that they don’t want to risk missing the opportunity to use (“the emporer’s new grave”? “akihitoast”?) i’m sure it’ll be hilarious!
-
Pele all da wae!
-
just wanted to know who to blame if it turns out to be a dud
-
so, was this based on a last minute suggestion from the forum? or was this decision slated for a while?

ted kaczynski (the “unibomber”) has been added to my list in the eleventh hour, as he’s been recently moved to a prison with advanced care and hospice. wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the main page, as the committee endeavours to include some kind of notable terrorist when given the chance... perhaps the coveted #50 slot.
-
i suppose i should offer up a substitution; John Goodenough (99): co-inventor of lithium-ion batteries, Nobel laureate: increased frailty in most recent interview, turns 100 next year
-
more people from my 2022 list have died over the last three months than those on my 2021 list..
-
in a recent interview, Bridge to Terabithia author Katherine Paterson still seems sharp and relatively healthy at 89. perhaps for future considerations rather than for 2022. i also learned that she released a new book in October (the content of which seems a little too evangelical for my consideration, but I'm glad she's still releasing new work)
-
he was on my list before i was updated on his good health, diet, and daily workout regimen over the summer. i would say to learn from my mistakes, but then again there has been a tendency of seemingly healthy (albeit old) people dying the year I drop them from my list
-
he is probably the healthiest 87 year old and is showing no signs of slowing down; suffice to say, it wouldn't surprise me if he was picked at #6 on the list next year.
-
not sure he’ll obit, i wouldn’t risk it
-
his day[o]s are numbered.
-
I know you've had such good luck picking him in the past <3
-
Do what you want with the current names; the list is probably already finalized, but I offer the following for consideration: Pele (81) Footballer: Colorectal Cancer, everyone will pick him. Rick Davies (77) Supertramp Singer: Multiple myeloma for 7 years, usually 4-5 year prognosis. Marianne Faithfull (75) Singer: Hep-C, drug abuser, previous cancer bout, still recovering from COVID and pneumonia a year later. Harry Reid (82) Politician: frail, wheelchair-bound, in remission for pancreatic cancer. Robert Munsch (76) Author: Previously battled alcoholism and a cocaine addiction (and suffered a stroke in 2008) now suffers dementia. Bill Connolly (79) Comedian: Parkinson’s Disease since 2013; advancement of which forced his retirement. Recently speculated he doesn’t have long. Kathy Griffin (61) Comedienne: Undergoing lung cancer treatment. Is now cancer-free, congrats to her! Stanley Tucci (61) Actor: Treatment for oral cancer is still ongoing but is going well; for anyone who wants to take a chance. Stephen Pearcy (65) Ratt Singer: Liver Cancer and Hepatitis; multiple Platinum+ albums, but not sure how UK obit-worthy. For consideration by other forum members with less limitations on fame in their pools: Joe Exotic (58) Tiger King: Aggressive prostate cancer, spread to pelvis ‘will not seek treatment’ Mike Bossy (65) Hall-of-fame hockey player: Lung cancer Ricou Browning (92) Director, actor, stuntman: Reportedly in very poor health Willie Mays (91) Hall-of-Fame baseball player: Old and frail… I assume the only reasons Joe DiMaggio was previously included on the list was he dated Marilyn Monroe and was mentioned in popular songs, but otherwise no one at DL HQ knows any other baseball players. Guy Lafleur (65) Hall-of-fame hockey player: Lung Cancer (diagnosed while undergoing quadruple bypass surgery) Richard Williams (80) Tennis coach, the guy Will Smith plays in that movie: In poor health, being taken care of by his son. Wendy Williams (57) Talk Show Host, Broadcaster: Plethora of health issues keeping her from returning to TV; looking for full-time replacement on her show. Shintaro Tsuji (94) Businessman, founder of Hello Kitty (Sanrio): Old, stepped down from company last year. Bobby Knight (81) Basketball coach: Super frail at his last public appearance, reportedly in failing health since February 2019. Donald Sterling (87) Billionaire, Former LA Clippers owner, Racist: Ongoing treatment for prostate cancer, Alzheimer’s since 2014.

Former player Troy Murray opens up about his cancer diagnosis, though no specifics about the type/stage of cancer. Requisite trivia for the thread: Murray had a respectable NHL career; a Stanley Cup, a Selke Trophy, a Gold Medal captaining Team Canada at the World Juniors, and scored 584 points in 914 games. Currently does the broadcasts for Chicago games Requisite Card:

went against the nay-sayers and voted shane

sounds like you tried to strike up a conversation with him and he had the time to spare rip

I'll try a few other sources: Like this one Or this one Failing that, here's a screenshot from the original article with the relevant health information (I even included the address for those who wish to send him a 'get well soon' card, which I may end up doing).
